The Marketing & Commercial Strategy (MACS) Team is a commercial function responsible for planning and optimising our delivery of leads to our clients. With a unique view across the integrated marketing funnel, the team has a large number of levers at its disposal to plan and improve performance for MVF and its clients. The team ensures that clients perform well from our programmes, continue to order higher budgets and that MVF is able to fulfil these orders efficiently and profitably.

The Role
You will hold a pivotal role within the business. You will be responsible for understanding the current and changing level of client demand and devising marketing plans to fulfil our orders in the most profitable way, whilst ensuring high quality for our clients. You will have a portfolio of accounts of varying sizes, ranging across different markets or different products. You will be responsible for analysing campaign performance, identifying opportunities for growth and making data-driven decisions to maximise the performance of your portfolio. You should think of this as your own business. You will be expected to have a strong grasp of all of the levers at your disposal, and to surface opportunities and threats along with appropriate solutions. We encourage those in this role to think innovatively and creatively, and to lead the strategy of their portfolio with confidence.
As a Senior MACS Analyst, you will be expected to demonstrate a high level of portfolio management and decision making, as well as playing a key role in assisting and training junior members of the team to do the same on their own portfolios. Additionally, you will be assisting the MACS Manager in spotting opportunities for growth across all markets and challenging areas of poor performance across the hub.
You will use your wide knowledge of marketing techniques and channels, including PPC, Social media, CDN, CRO and CRM, to inform complex marketing strategies and innovative tests. In addition, you will be expected to independently identify areas of inefficiency within your team's processes and develop innovative solutions for these.
Senior MACS Analysts will also be involved in identifying high value initiatives, which will look to answer key questions across their team hub or department, either ad hoc or as part of an established roadmap. You will be expected to drive the delivery of these projects against their objectives, via strong collaboration and prioritisation of work.
Responsibilities:

  • Devising long-term strategies to grow GP within your portfolio and the hub as a whole.
  • Analysing customer demand across your portfolio to create layered marketing plans
  • Leading cross-functional roundtable meetings to establish mid/long-term market strategy
  • Using in-depth knowledge of marketing channels to help devise innovative tests and perform granular analysis on marketing performance
  • Combine and manipulate various data sets to deliver insights driving profitability and client success
  • Monitoring, tracking and improving key client metrics
  • Set the commercial strategy with Sales within your portfolio, prioritise initiatives and communicate plans effectively
  • Working with sales teams to improve volume and quality of client data being received
  • Taking a leading role in healthcheck meetings and check-ins with other functions (inc. CRO)
  • Working with O&O teams (Publishing, CRM, Telemarketing where relevant) to help maximise margin
  • Spotting opportunities for on site and end-to-end user journey tests and surfacing these to the relevant teams (CRO, Tech etc)
  • Identifying and executing on initiatives which facilitate better decision making within the team, such as improving data visibility
  • Helping train junior members of the team through sessions as part of the ops academy as well as in a day-to-day capacity
  • Leading hub or department-wide roadmap projects from planning through to completion
  • Establishing strong relationships with members of other functions and hub in order to facilitate regular and effective idea sharing
  • Assisting Marketing Strategy Manager in identifying key commercial priorities within the hub
  • Challenging commercial performance across the whole hub
  • Regularly offering feedback on team processes, commercial performance and team morale

  • Hub GP is grown consistently with this person's portfolio contributing largely to this
  • Key client revenue is grown through effective collaboration with the sales team and strategic planning
  • Hub and departmental-wide projects are led to successful conclusion and deliver against measurable objectives
  • Team's time spent on administrative and manual tasks is reduced through the creation of clever process solutions
  • Team knowledge of other function is improved through forming strong cross-functional relationships and sharing knowledge with the team
  • Junior members of the team feel confident performing core tasks due to this person's example and training
  • Visibility of all strategic levers and key hub opportunities is improved through insightful data analysis
  • Stakeholder management is strong, with portfolio strategies delivered with confidence and in collaboration with marketing and sales


Our Ideal MVFer:

  • 12 to 18 months of experience in an analytical role
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with experience in statistical analysis and an ability to manipulate data.
  • Strong commercial instincts, strong knowledge of digital marketing and the ability to contextualise information by thinking laterally.
  • A wide-ranging knowledge of MVF's business model and the roles of the individual functions
  • Experience in analysing and optimising user funnels
  • Experience of leading projects and strong attention to detail, or at least a demonstrated appetite to do so
  • A strong communicator who is adept in giving and receiving feedback and training others
  • An active problem solver who constantly improves processes without prompting
