As the Regional Director of Sales for Government Markets on the Sales Team, you’ll report to the Vice President, Sales & Business Development. The Regional Director will have ownership over and carry a quota for an assigned territory and named accounts. They will be an expert at developing champion relationships, telling a complex and powerful value proposition story, and end-to-end pipeline and relationship management including expanding and up-selling in existing state accounts.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Have ownership for all customer development activities and quota achievement in a named territory
  • Create plans and strategies for developing business and achieving sales quotas
  • Develop and maintain relationships with executives at key target accounts within the territory
  • Responsible for forecasting and detailed pipeline management for the territory
  • Collaboration on campaigns, events and other activities in support of customer development goals for the territory
  • Help define sales and marketing processes that drive desired sales outcomes and identify improvements where and when required
  • Become an expert in the platform and services and articulating its value
  • Provide continuous feedback to the broader team about product positioning, feature requests, and competitive landscape
  • Be a key voice in sales planning, prioritization setting and process optimization
  • Be an ambassador to the public sector community for the company, our technology and the thought leadership that we are creating in the space
  • Identify and own net new RFPs, lead and support capture efforts, develop strategy with GR and  RFP team, coordinating with Product & CCS Teams on staffing, product requirements and other key areas that are dependent to respond.
  • Partner with GR Regional Directors to educate and develop net new opportunities with key state departments and agencies which includes onsite visits, conference attendance and virtual demos.
  • Ensure documentation of deals in Hubspot is done effectively to track activity (coordinate with GR).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10 or more years of diversified government relations sales experience.
  • Experience working with senior executives, government affairs directors, and policymakers.
  • An entrepreneurial orientation and a commitment to grow the overall organization.
  • Technology industry experience, operational legislative or government service-related experience are a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Proven project management track record and comfort managing and working with staff at all levels.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail and a service-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to work under pressing deadlines across multiple projects and portray calm in the face of difficult situations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • This is largely a sedentary role; standard office equipment is used, such as laptops, monitors and headsets, if needed.   
  • Significant travel is required
