Job Overview:

LPL Financial is seeking a Principal Engineer to work within its growing Information Security department reporting to the VP, Threat and Incident Response.  The Principal Engineer will spearhead our insider threat program.  In this role, you will develop strategies to mitigate risks posed by internal threats, conduct in-depth investigations, and collaborate with information security and other teams to enhance our security posture against insider threats. This is a senior level position requiring expertise in security operations, behavioral analysis, and risk management.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the insider threat program, focusing on developing and implementing use cases leveraging existing technologies and identifying gaps in capabilities.

  • Lead relationship building with peer teams such as human resources, legal, compliance, risk management, and information security.

  • Develop and implement policies, standards and processes for insider threat mitigation.

  • Coordinate and support investigations into potential insider threats.

  • Develop and deliver briefings and risk assessments related to insider threat activity to senior leaders.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience of in insider threat or counterintelligence operations.

  • Strong technical knowledge and experience of insider threat indicators, risk scoring models, and behavioral analytics.

  • Technical proficiency in applicable tools such as DLP, SIEM, and UEBA.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams (Legal, HR, Compliance, Security).

  • Applicable training or certifications such as CERT ITPM and CCITP.

Preferences:

  • Experience with a SIEM and/or big data analytics platforms preferred (MAPR/Hadoop, etc.)

  • Experience with multiple operating systems to include Windows, Mac OS, and Unix/Linux

  • Experience working in a team-oriented and collaborative IT environment. Highly self-motivated, directed, and can work independently without supervision

  • Background in the financial industry

Pay Range:

$143,100-$238,500/year
 
Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
