Information Security Office (Data Analyst), Principal Associate
At Capital One, you will help consult on initiatives, programs, and projects to raise their game in Information Security. You are pragmatic and practical in your understanding of risk and security, but also willing to know when to pull in experts and escalate. You collaborate and innovate with other teams within Capital One to push the envelope. As an associate in Capital One's Cyber Information Security Office - Risk Operations team, you will work with top talent to solve problems and drive solutions to help the company reduce cyber risk. This position requires strong Business Intelligence, analytics and automation skills and those proficient in using QuickSight and other BI tools are strongly encouraged to apply. You should have experience with traditional and modern technologies such as Databricks, Python, REST API, relational databases, Snowflake, Git, Shell scripting, and AWS.
In this role, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining and optimizing our data delivery and extraction from multiple data sources into our data warehouse. You will be asked to create, enhance, and optimize Quicksight visualizations that are used by our business customers and internal leaders to include insights and alerting for Cybersecurity risk mitigation.
Responsibilities:

  • Build data pipeline frameworks to automate high-volume and real-time data delivery to our cloud platform
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS 'big data' technologies
  • Develop and enhance applications using a modern technology stack such as Python, Shell Scripting, Snowflake, Lambda and Databricks
  • Generate data science patterns and machine learning models to drive delivery of discovery insights to customers
  • Utilize reporting tools, such as Quicksight, to build and maintain dashboards used by internal leadership teams
  • Build relationships with Information Security Officers and business requirement stakeholders to generate new/improved value streams using data and insights
  • Analyze and interpret best practices and metrics to develop reporting dashboards and risk management tooling to identify cyber risk trends, analytics, and/or maturity opportunities for internal teams.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
  • At least 3 years of experience working in cybersecurity or information technology
  • At least 2 years of professional data analysis experience
  • At least 2 years of experience scripting in Python
  • At least 1 years of experience utilizing Tableau or AWS QuickSight
  • At least 1 years of experience using database management tools
  • At least 1 years of experience using relational database systems


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of experience building software utilizing public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • 2+ years experience utilizing Agile methodologies
  • 2+ years of experience with Risk Management principles and Cybersecurity controls
  • 2+ years of experience building data pipelines and using ETL tools
  • 2+ years of experience creating automated solutions
  • 2+ years of experience delivering Data Governance, Data Quality Management concepts and practices within the financial services industry
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $158,600 - $181,000 for Prin Assoc, Cyber Technical
New York, NY: $173,000 - $197,400 for Prin Assoc, Cyber Technical
Plano, TX: $144,200 - $164,600 for Prin Assoc, Cyber Technical
Richmond, VA: $144,200 - $164,600 for Prin Assoc, Cyber Technical
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
