BigCommerce is looking for a Manager, Global Real Estate & Workplace Experience to manage our global real estate portfolio and hybrid workplace experience. This role will be responsible for the oversight and management of day-to-day operations of the global Workplace experience team, vendor management, workspace planning and lease negotiation. This role goes beyond operations-it's about creating workplaces that inspire, connect, and support our global BigCommerce team. You'll have the opportunity to shape the future of how we work, ensuring our offices reflect our values, culture, and commitment to excellence. This role will report to the Sr. Manager, Culture & Engagement.
What you'll do:
- Manage our global real estate portfolio and workspace planning spanning three U.S. offices and three international locations
- Drive the relocation of our Austin HQ to the Domain in 2025 , coordinating with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth communication, effective planning, and a seamless transition for local staff
- Partner with BigCommerce real estate brokers to develop forward-thinking real estate strategies aligned with evolving business needs
- Review and advise on letters of intent, lease proposals and counter proposals, review leases, consult with legal and finance team on terms and conditions
- Analyze market trends, financial models, and future market opportunities to guide decision-making regarding workplace strategies
- Partner with the People Experience team, and senior leadership to develop hybrid workforce strategies that drive meaningful employee engagement both in-office and remotely
- Manage our global Workplace experience team, inspiring them to make sure all of our offices deliver a WOW employment experience and execute internal events that drive deeper employee connections
- Regularly evaluate and enhance workplace experience standards to drive operational excellence, maximize efficiency, and deliver a unified global experience
- Lead safety and security initiatives to maintain the well-being of all BigCommerce facilities
- Cultivate strong relationships with building ownership, property management, and direct vendors (e.g., architects, contractors, furniture, and security partners)
- Negotiate and manage vendor contracts to deliver cost-effective, high-quality outcomes
- Manage occupancy costs, budget forecasting, and monthly expense reviews in partnership with the finance team. Advise and provide recommendations for annual budgets
Who you are:
- 5+ years experience in corporate real estate and/or facilities management with at least 2 years experience in people management
- Broad exposure to facilities/property management, real estate service delivery and vendor oversight, real estate capital or project management (construction and improvements), and long term real estate strategy formulation
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams while fostering strong relationships with internal and external partners globally
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on collaboration and influence
- Excellent problem solving and process improvement abilities
- A customer-centric mindset with a passion for enhancing employee experiences and workplace culture
- Strong computer skills, including GMail, Google Docs, Microsoft Office applications
Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range (or have the minimum apply to them), but rather, the exact salary will be dependent on the successful candidate's location, relevant knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
Targeted salary range
$97,000 - $146,000 USD
