Job Summary:

DeleteMe’s Privacy Operations team is the beating heart of the organization, delivering timely and high quality service to protect our members. As a Legal Researcher you will become a trusted resource for both the Privacy Operations team and the whole company. Your focus will be advancing DeleteMe’s understanding of the US privacy regulatory environment including, but not limited to existing (and future) Federal and State Privacy legislation. Utilizing your vocational experience and a passion for privacy you will research and document this ecosystem, aiding DeleteMe in its goal of protecting the online privacy of its valued members.


This position is a fixed-term contract for six months, with the potential for a full-time opportunity based on performance.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Research existing privacy regulations and case law at the Federal, State and local level to inform DeleteMe process and policy.
  • Monitor updates and changes in privacy legislation, such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and emerging global frameworks.
  • Deliver findings in high quality research products for internal and external use.
  • Act as subject matter expert for data privacy and governance, fielding ad hoc operational requests from Revenue and Privacy Operations teams.
  • Assist in managing escalations for non compliant data sources.
  • Audit internal and external documentation for accuracy, updating as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required- legal degree (eg. LLB) preferred
  • Experience conducting legal research on privacy laws, regulations, and frameworks (eg. GDPR, and CCPA).
  • Experience assisting with privacy-related litigation or drafting policy recommendations
  • A passion for privacy protection with professional certification preferred (CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or similar)
  • Experience with Legal Research platforms such as Lexus Nexus, Westlaw or Bloomberg Law
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to coherently communicate verbally and in writing
  • Adaptability, able to keep up in a fast moving, dynamic workplace
  • Familiarity with G Suite tools (Gmail, Google Sheets etc.)
