Position Description
The GMS (Generation Management System) Engineer is a contract position, reporting to the Head of Digital Technology will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Origis Energy’s GMS (Generation Management System), which monitors and controls multiple utility-scale renewable energy power plants.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implementation, and maintenance of all OSI Monarch related applications, including OpenSCADA, OpenCalc, OpenHIS, OpenICCP, OpenOPC, etc.
- Work closely with other engineers to ensure the successful integration of plant SCADA systems into GMS environment.
- Participate in onboarding of new projects into the GMS, including point-to-point testing with plant SCADA systems.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to the GMS, including user manuals, maintenance guides, and standard operating procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the GMS in a timely manner.
- Train end-users and other engineers on the use and maintenance of OSI Monarch.
- Support the implementation and deployment of security patches and software updates to the OSI Monarch platform.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, implementing, and/or maintaining OSI Monarch systems within electrical power production environments.
- Strong programming skills.
- Knowledge of various communication protocols, including OPC, DNP3, and Modbus.
- Familiarity with industrial control systems and their components, such as sensors, relays, circuit breakers and controllers.
- Strong understanding of ISO requirements, including CAISO, MISO, +
- ERCOT, PJM, etc.
- Knowledge of NERC and cyber security requirements for low and medium impact facilities.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
