Position Description

The GMS (Generation Management System) Engineer is a contract position, reporting to the Head of Digital Technology will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Origis Energy’s GMS (Generation Management System), which monitors and controls multiple utility-scale renewable energy power plants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implementation, and maintenance of all OSI Monarch related applications, including OpenSCADA, OpenCalc, OpenHIS, OpenICCP, OpenOPC, etc.
  • Work closely with other engineers to ensure the successful integration of plant SCADA systems into GMS environment.
  • Participate in onboarding of new projects into the GMS, including point-to-point testing with plant SCADA systems.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to the GMS, including user manuals, maintenance guides, and standard operating procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the GMS in a timely manner.
  • Train end-users and other engineers on the use and maintenance of OSI Monarch.
  • Support the implementation and deployment of security patches and software updates to the OSI Monarch platform.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, implementing, and/or maintaining OSI Monarch systems within electrical power production environments.
  • Strong programming skills.
  • Knowledge of various communication protocols, including OPC, DNP3, and Modbus.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems and their components, such as sensors, relays, circuit breakers and controllers.
  • Strong understanding of ISO requirements, including CAISO, MISO, +
  • ERCOT, PJM, etc.
  • Knowledge of NERC and cyber security requirements for low and medium impact facilities.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

 

Location   Austin, TX 

Travel   Up to 10% travel required as necessary
