Billing Engineering Manager

Location: Austin TX, but remote US cities will be considered About the department
Cloudflare's Billing Engineering Team built and maintains all the internal/external billing related services, product provisioning services and services related to entitlements. This is a vital team centric to every product launch, campaign or initiative Cloudlfare undertakes. There are constantly multiple high profile initiatives going on, therefore the ability to context switch, communicate proactively and manage expectations is a key.
Billing Team is a place where you will learn fast, interface with all other engineering product teams, work with empathetic and team driven engineers, solve hard challenges and celebrate wins. Introspection, project/incident retrospectives, team communication is central to our success.
What you'll do
You will lead a team of passionate, talented engineers that are building the systems that decentralize applications deployed on millions of sites. You will play an active part in shaping the product and team that will build core infrastructure. You will make sure our company hits our ambitious engineering goals. You will change the way people build applications.
You bring a passion for meeting business needs by building technical, innovative solutions. You excel at understanding how big-picture goals inform technical details. You thrive in a fast-paced iterative engineering environment and have experience in delivering scalable distributed systems. Most importantly, you have a track record of having past teams respect you as both a technical leader and manager.

• Experience leading a team
• Comfortable leading and hiring a team that builds the backend bits and frontend widgets
• Excel at planning, creating teams and overseeing execution to meet commitments and deliver with predictability
• Comfortable building developer-loved APIs that scale
• Demonstrate a track record of leading a team including hiring, on-boarding, and professional development
• You inspire your team to reach higher
• You're as good as explaining "why" as you are "how"
• Experience implementing tools, process, internal instrumentation, methodologies and resolving blockages
• Comfortable managing teams/projections with tight deadlines and short release cycles

• Experience building massive distributed systems
• Experience leading teams using any of the following: modern JavaScript, Web Assembly. Rust or Go

Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.

• For Colorado-based hires and Washington hires: Estimated annual salary of $191,000 - $233,000
• For New York City-based and California (excluding Bay Area): Estimated annual salary of 213,000 - $261,000
• For Bay Area-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $225,000 - $275,000

This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflare's equity plan.
