Virta Health is pioneering a new standard of care for people to reclaim their lives. We are in the midst of a public health crisis: obesity rates are at an all-time high and over half of US adults have type 2 diabetes or prediabetes, and despite billions spent on new treatments, outcomes are largely worse. Virta reverses these diseases and  delivers life-changing results by pairing individualized nutrition with ongoing care from a clinical support team. We have raised over $350 million from top-tier investors, and partner with the largest health plans, employers, and government organizations to help their employees and members restore their health and take back their lives.

As Virta’s Engagement & Retention Marketing Manager, you will empower members to reach their health goals by strategizing, creating, and testing cross-channel campaigns that foster meaningful engagement throughout their journey. In this role, you’ll work closely with the content, product, marketing, and design teams to shape, implement, and refine strategies. The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker with a growth mindset and a master of operational execution.

Responsibilities

  • Campaign Strategy & Execution: Design and manage behavior-driven, cross-channel campaigns (email, SMS, push, in-app, etc.) to drive enrollment, improve program engagement, and reduce churn, helping members achieve their goals.

  • Personalization & Segmentation: Leverage behavioral, demographic, and outcomes data to create personalized messaging and audience segments that resonate with diverse member groups, including new enrollees, long-tenure members, and those requiring re-engagement. Ensure members on different pathways are receiving communication tailored to their needs.

  • Collaboration & Cross-Functional Alignment: Work closely with product, content, design, and analytics teams to identify gaps and opportunities in the member journey, including enrollment, retention, and engagement stages, ensuring campaigns achieve business objectives.

  • A/B Testing, Performance Monitoring & Insights: Develop and execute experimentation roadmaps, conducting rigorous A/B testing to improve funnel performance and campaign effectiveness. Analyze results against key metrics, deliver regular reports, and provide actionable insights to refine strategies and maximize impact on enrollment, retention, and engagement.

90 Day Plan

Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you will do the following:

  • Become proficient in our engagement platform, Braze, as well as other relevant tools like Notion and Looker.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the member journey and the role of content in driving engagement and outcomes.

  • Manage and optimize ongoing campaigns, leveraging A/B testing to gain insights into member needs and preferences.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on company goals and create a prioritized roadmap for campaigns.

Must-Haves

  • Lifecycle Marketing Expertise: 3+ years of experience in a Lifecycle or email marketing role, with proven success driving conversion, retention, and re-engagement through email, push, in-app, and SMS channels. Proficient in email tools, HTML, and channel-specific best practices.

  • Data-Driven Strategy & Execution: Skilled in developing and executing lifecycle strategies, including experimentation (A/B and multivariate testing), analyzing campaign performance, and delivering actionable insights to improve engagement and outcomes.

  • Strong Communication & Writing Skills: Excellent short-form writing skills for impactful messaging, with the ability to clearly communicate and collaborate across cross-functional teams using tools like Zoom and Slack.

  • Project Management & Organization: Exceptional organizational skills with a high attention to detail, balancing multiple priorities and driving projects autonomously in a fast-paced environment.

  • Collaborative & Analytical Problem Solver: Team-oriented mindset with a track record of building strong partnerships, defining success criteria, and optimizing campaigns to achieve measurable results.

Values-driven culture

Virta’s company values drive our culture, so you’ll do well if:

  • You put people first and take care of yourself, your peers, and our patients equally

  • You have a strong sense of ownership and take initiative while empowering others to do the same

  • You prioritize positive impact over busy work

  • You have no ego and understand that everyone has something to bring to the table regardless of experience

  • You appreciate transparency and promote trust and empowerment through open access of information

  • You are evidence-based and prioritize data and science over seniority or dogma

  • You take risks and rapidly iterate
