The Role

Role Description

We're looking for a versatile engineer to join our team and work on one of our exciting explorations. As a valuable member of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in inventing new technologies and transforming rapid prototypes into robust, high-quality software solutions that seamlessly integrate with our partners.

Your expertise and dedication will be instrumental in driving the success of Dropbox's new initiatives and identifying the product-market fit for our new product. You'll have the exhilarating experience of learning, iterating, and adapting based on valuable feedback and data insights. If you thrive in fast-paced, startup-like environments and excel at problem-solving, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

With your deep curiosity and passion for continuous learning, you'll stay on top of new technologies and industry trends. Taking ownership of projects, wearing multiple hats, and thriving in ambiguous situations come naturally to you.

If you're an engineer who loves challenges, seeks ownership, and is motivated to turn ideas into reality, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the entire project lifecycle, from designing and prototyping to implementing, deploying, and measuring metrics for success.
  • Drive innovation by creating customer-centric prototypes for new product explorations.
  • Foster collaboration and inspire virtual teams to work seamlessly across the organization, leading to positive outcomes and meaningful change.
  • Serve as a role model for your team, demonstrating exceptional technical expertise and leadership skills.
  • Proactively communicate your learnings and progress to your team and leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of engineering experience and proficiency in multiple programming languages, including Python and TypeScript.
  • Extensive knowledge in building interpreters and runtimes.
  • Experienced in developing full-stack web applications using React, Python, or similar technologies.
  • Proven track record of successfully tackling complex technical challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Strong ability to quickly grasp and apply complex concepts and technologies, including LLMs.
  • Exposure to building developer tools.

Many teams at Dropbox run Services with on-call rotations, which entails being available for calls during both core and non-core business hours. If a team has an on-call rotation, all engineers on the team are expected to participate in the rotation as part of their employment. Applicants are encouraged to ask for more details of the rotations to which the applicant is applying.

What We Do

Dropbox is a special place where we are all seeking to fulfill our mission to design a more enlightened way of working. We’re looking for innovative talent to join us on our journey. The words shared by our founders at the start of Dropbox still ring true today. Wouldn’t it be great if our working environment—and the tools we use—were designed with people’s actual needs in mind? Imagine if every minute at work were well spent—if we could focus and spend our time on the things that matter. This is possible, and Dropbox is connecting the dots. The nearly 3,000 Dropboxers around the world have helped make Dropbox a living workspace - the place where people come together and their ideas come to life. Our 700+ million global users have been some of our best salespeople, and they have helped us acquire customers with incredible efficiency. As a result, we reached a billion dollar revenue run rate faster than any software-as-a-service company in history. Dropbox is making the dream of a fulfilling and seamless work life a reality. We hope you’ll join us on the journey.
