We are looking for an executive who thrives in a large enterprise environment, possesses deep data center expertise, and can seamlessly balance hands-on operational rigor with high-level strategic planning.

This role will be based at our Austin or downtown Denver location. Relocation assistance available.

What you'll do

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the global IT strategy, aligning technology initiatives with Riot’s overarching business objectives and growth trajectory.
  • Infrastructure & Data Center Operations: Oversee all network infrastructure and IT equipment across our corporate offices and large-scale data centers, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability for both internal employees and client-facing networks.
  • Team & Organizational Development: Lead, mentor, and scale a large, multi-tiered, and geographically distributed IT organization. Build a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • AI Strategy & Adoption: Provide thought leadership and collaborate to align AI initiatives with business goals and risk appetite. Lead the roadmap for AI adoption across the enterprise, identifying high-impact use cases and ensuring our infrastructure and governance are ready to scale new technologies in a way that balances quick wins with long-term transformation.
  • Future-Proofing & Gap Analysis: Assess current IT capabilities to identify gaps; design and execute a 3-to-5-year modernization roadmap that anticipates future scaling needs, technological shifts, and security requirements.
  • Financial & Vendor Management: Own and optimize large, complex CapEx and OpEx budgets. Drive strategic vendor partnerships, contract negotiations, and procurement at an enterprise scale.
  • Enterprise Platforms & Applications: Govern the deployment, integration, and management of core business applications and IT service delivery models across the enterprise.
  • Governance & Security: Partner with InfoSec and compliance teams to ensure all IT operations adhere to strict regulatory standards, operational controls, and disaster recovery SLA's.

What you'll bring

  • 15+ years of progressive IT experience, with a heavy emphasis on infrastructure and enterprise operations.
  • 10+ years of senior management experience, successfully leading large, enterprise organizations with distributed tech teams across multiple locations.
  • Proven track record in data center IT operations, network engineering (LAN/WAN, hybrid connectivity), and scaling infrastructure within high-compute or heavy industrial footprints.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale organizational shifts and driving adoption of new technologies and ways of working.
  • Demonstrated history of managing large-scale IT budgets, cost optimization strategies, and complex vendor ecosystems.

Preferred

  • Prior leadership experience at a hyperscaler or highly comparable infrastructure environment.
  • Experience operating within a publicly traded company, navigating SOX compliance, strict regulatory governance, and public reporting rigor.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive Salary: $220,000 - $250,000 Base salary (commensurate with experience) + bonus + sign-on equity grant.
  • Long-Term Growth: Eligible to participate in Riot’s equity incentive programs and share in the success you help build.
