You will join a team developing state-of-the-art general-purpose robots designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, mobilize to human spaces, and manipulate the world around it.
JOB SUMMARY
We’re seeking Surface Designers / CAD Modelers to help shape the future of robotics. We’re looking for individuals with a multidisciplinary skillset, passionate about working at the cutting edge of an emerging industry. As a key member of our growing design team, you’ll collaborate with Industrial Designers and Engineers to define what a humanoid robot should look like, who it should serve, and bring a collective vision to life through precise, high-quality surface and 3D modeling.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with designers to translate sketches and CAD models into accurate Class-A surfaces whilst maintaining original design intent.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate conceptual design input into production design surfaces.
- Evaluate design concepts for feasibility, surface quality and manufacturability, providing feedback and recommendations for optimization.
- Maintain digital surface documentation related to surface development, as well as an organized library of design les and versions for project tracking.
- Ensure all surfaces meet visual standards through thorough validation and design reviews.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and tools, as well as best practices in industrial design and engineering to drive innovation and improve processes.
Skills and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, automotive design, mechanical engineering or related eld.
- 5+ years of experience in industrial design (or equivalent eld) with a focus on prototype, design development and production development.
- Prociency in Alias software and industry surface design best practices from concept to Class-A.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with other CAD packages such as Fusion 360 or Solidworks.
- A good understanding of humanoid robots or human anatomical proportions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
- Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
- Hearing and speech to communicate
