You will join a team developing state-of-the-art general-purpose robots designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, mobilize to human spaces, and manipulate the world around it.

JOB SUMMARY 

We're looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with proven hands-on capabilities and a strong practical background. We are primarily interested in candidates with prior implementation experience in robotics hardware. In this job role, you will develop electric systems from ideation to delivery for a variety of robotic platforms and projects. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES or KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Work closely with various engineering teams to conceptualize, specify, and implement electrical architectures for various robotic platforms to include robotic manipulators and humanoid robotic systems
  • Rapid prototyping of electrical systems at both system and board levels
  • Generate design documentation such as schematics, block diagrams, test plans and procedures, fabrication and assembly drawings
  • Specify and select electrical components such as microcontrollers, microprocessors, memory, drivers and others
  • Convert prototype designs to custom circuit board specifications. Capture electronics schematics and generate PCB designs for manufacturing
  • Perform board bring-up activities including embedded firmware development and circuit validation
  • Create and execute test plans for intermediate and final products, including test fixture design and software development
  • Participate in the debugging and root cause analysis related to hardware and software defect resolution
  • Interface with internal and external manufacturing teams to enhance design for test, manufacturing, and assembly
  • Support existing engineering products through debugging and upgrading designs 

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS 

  • Interest and previous experience mentoring junior team members
  • Competent in CAD tools including Altium, or similar tools
  • Experience designing high speed systems (computers, networking, etc.)
  • Familiarity with architecting computer and networking systems
  • Proficient in designing high speed busses (ethernet, etherCAT, MII, DDR3, etc)
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Experient with computer architecture, memory hierarchy, and cache subsystems
  • Strong understanding of power-efficient design techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Documentation experience - will be expected to develop detailed build assembly instructions and diagrams
  • [Nice to Have] Prior experience designing electronics for lightweight, space-constrained systems
  • [Nice to Have] Experience implementing embedded systems on robots and troubleshooting hardware
  • [Nice to Have] Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI accelerators or quantum computing is a plus 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related field 
  • 10+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer
