Staff Android Platform Engineer at Realtor.com®
Location: Austin, TX
We are looking for a Staff Android Engineer for our Mobile Platform team who would like to make a difference in the products they develop. If you are passionate about building native experiences, designing architectures that scale, writing code with quality in mind and you thrive by collaborating with cross functional teams, you’ll be right at home with us.
What you'll do:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance and redefine the development experience, empowering our mobile team to excel.
- Lead the design and evolution of our CI/CD pipelines, foundational codebase, and toolsets, driving efficiency and excellence.
- Partner with teams across the organization to understand business needs and deliver scalable technical solutions that address complex challenges.
- Advocate for quality by delivering scalable, robust, and reusable code that meets high standards.
- Champion tools and practices that enhance productivity and elevate the Mobile Team’s capabilities.
- Mentor and coach engineers by fostering best practices, encouraging innovation, and promoting technical growth.
How we work:

What you'll bring:
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a track record of building products at scale.
- 5+ years of experience developing native Android applications in team environments.
- Advanced proficiency in Kotlin, Java, and the Android SDK, with hands-on experience in frameworks such as RxJava, Dagger, and MVVM.
- Familiarity with Android architecture components like Jetpack, and tools such as CircleCI, Gradle, and Fastlane.
- Knowledge or interest in functional programming concepts.
- Expertise in creating and managing dependency management solutions and coding frameworks.
- Experience leading teams, mentoring engineers, and managing technical projects.
- A solid understanding of TDD/BDD principles, with hands-on experience applying them.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to discuss complex technical concepts with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A self-starter mindset, adept at managing projects, meeting deadlines, and setting clear stakeholder expectations.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience with modern tools like Jetpack Compose, Room, Espresso, OkHttp/Retrofit, and Maps SDK.
