Position Overview

We're looking for an entrepreneurial leader to drive our social media and digital engagement strategy. In the first few months, you'll focus on creating content, testing social platforms, refining our audience profile, and creating a scalable social media strategy. You'll then build and manage the strategy and develop a playbook for sustained digital growth.

The ideal candidate has experience as an early social media hire at a startup, with success in content creation and community development. Based in Austin, TX, the role requires occasional travel, often to disaster zones, where you'll be Bright Harbor's first digital representative, building online relationships and expanding our digital reach.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Develop Social Strategy:

  • Craft a scalable social media strategy based on insights from platform testing and audience engagement.

  • Content Creation: Produce engaging content across platforms, including posts, stories, reels, and live streams to promote Bright Harbor's services.

  • Community Management: Lead efforts to build and nurture online communities, fostering engagement and brand loyalty among followers.

  • Social Media Playbook: Develop a comprehensive playbook standardizing processes for consistent, high-quality content across diverse disaster scenarios.

  • Crisis Communication: Serve as Bright Harbor's digital voice during disasters, establishing online presence and quickly disseminating critical information.

  • Analytics and Reporting: Collaborate with teams to provide data-driven insights, aligning social strategies with overall business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Social Media Expertise: Strong background in digital marketing, community management, and content creation, with a proven track record of audience growth.

  • Startup Experience: History of scaling social media presence from early-stage to rapid growth, ideally contributing to overall digital strategy development.

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to identify emerging trends, capitalize on viral opportunities, and develop clear strategies for digital growth.

  • Content Development: Hands-on experience creating diverse content types, including video, graphics, and written posts to engage target audiences.

  • Exceptional Communication: Clear and effective in both written and visual communication, adept at translating brand voice across platforms.

  • Platform Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of major social media platforms, their algorithms, and best practices for engagement.

  • Adaptable and Responsive: Comfortable with a fast-paced environment, able to pivot strategies quickly in response to trending topics or crisis situations.

Why Join Bright Harbor?

  • Climate Adaptation Focused: Be part of a company working to address one of the most critical issues of our time—adapting our communities to climate change.

  • Impactful Work: Join a mission-driven team that’s making a tangible difference in people’s lives.

  • Performance Culture: Be part of a world-class team with a strong culture that values performance, integrity, and creativity.

  • Growth Opportunities: Play a key role in the company’s growth, with ample opportunities for career advancement.
