About the Team
The Trust Engineering team builds platforms used by all cloud engineers at Roku. These components are designed to be a cost-effective and secure platform of services that Roku engineers use globally. Our team owns the following segments:
- The Developer platform, which involves management and evolution of source control, artifacts, CI/CD, and securing cloud infrastructure
- Our Application hosting platform, which is based on Kubernetes and Istio, is designed to address scalability, multi-region hosting, multi-cloud hosting, and nuances of deployment
- The Observability platform, which is based on Prometheus, Loki, and Grafana, is integrated with our application hosting and developer platform
- Plus, the Cloud Governance program
Our team members are smart, collegial, collaborative, and focused on building the best-in-class platform. We foster a culture of experimentation, looking for the best idea to take the day. As a leader on this team, our Director of Trust Engineering models this behavior: If we’re not trying new things, we’re not growing. We need to grow and adapt so that Roku stays on top.
About the role
The Senior Technical Project Manager helps our Engineering team deliver our most complex, cross-functional, critical software development projects to market. The ideal candidate will be well organized, experienced in agile project management, technically skilled, and genuinely interested in understanding their projects' business goals and technology aspects (i.e., not satisfied with simply tracking tasks on a checklist or project plan).
What you'll be doing
- Partner with multiple engineering teams and product management to provide agile project management support to key product development and core engineering projects on a day-to-day basis:
- Help product owners form and socialize program requirements, and translate them into engineering-actionable work
- Collaborate with product owners to clearly understand and document business needs, set priorities for sprint planning, and review deliverables at sprint completion
- Collaborate with engineering leadership to secure engineering resources, manage priorities and dependencies across teams, and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Build and maintain end-to-end project/program schedules
- Establish committed deliverables and measure the team’s success against these commitments
- Proactively identify, track, and communicate dependencies, risks, and issues affecting projects and collaborate on finding a resolution
- Report to stakeholders on project status and estimated delivery schedule on a regular basis
- Ensure that projects follow a lightweight methodology and meet quality standards before being released to end users
- Serve as Agile Coach and act as an enabler of cross-functional collaboration across Engineering and Product Management teams
- Oversee, track, and report the status of a broader product category program and help the Product Category Lead drive the product category to its business goals
- Participate in and help to drive the quarterly and yearly roadmap planning processes
- Collaborate on defining and growing the Project Management organization within dataxu
- Work to continuously improve planning and project execution processes across engineering and product groups
We're excited if you have
- Bachelor’s Degree in CS, Engineering, or a related discipline and/or commensurate work experience
- 5+ years of experience working on software projects, ideally in SaaS and/or ad tech solutions
- Experience as an agile coach and/or Jira Admin is a big plus
- Strong communicator and consensus builder
- Able to influence process change without direct authority
- Have an interest in understanding the “what” and “how” aspects of your projects, and a willingness to be a hands-on team member beyond tracking tasks and reporting status
- Eager to understand both the business needs behind a project and the technical solutions developed to satisfy those needs
- Willing to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously

The Roku Culture
Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We're independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV.
We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
