At Charles Schwab, we are seeking a seasoned Senior Team Manager of Platform Engineering within the Data and Rep Technology (DaRT) organization to lead our ambitious Cloud Data Platform initiatives. Responsibilities include:

Cloud Data Platform Engineering & Strategy:

  • Service Enablement: Spearhead the development and implementation of new Cloud platform services, ensuring seamless integration and alignment with existing systems. Develop strategies for service provisioning that optimize both performance and security.
  • Resource Provisioning: Oversee the allocation and management of platform resources for customer and tenant needs.
  • Platform Expansion and Upgrades: Plan and execute the expansion of platform capabilities to support growing business needs. Lead major service lifecycle management initiatives, integrating cutting-edge technologies that enhance platform performance and user experience.

Operational Excellence:

  • Monitoring and Logging: Develop and maintain a robust monitoring framework that tracks performance metrics and logs critical events. Use this data to drive continuous improvement and ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Security and Compliance: Direct the implementation of comprehensive security protocols and compliance measures across all platform services. Regularly review and update these protocols to mitigate risks and respond to evolving threats.
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Establish and test disaster recovery plans that ensure rapid restoration of services in the event of outages or other disruptive incidents. Maintain business continuity by implementing failover mechanisms and redundant systems.

Leadership and Team Development as well as Collaboration and Influence:

  • Strategic Partnerships: Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders and external vendors to align platform development with broader organizational goals. Advocate for technological advancements that drive business value.
  • Continuous Performance Optimization: Systematically analyze platform operations to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies. Implement solutions that enhance service delivery and user satisfaction.

What you have

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, a related field, or the equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years in technology leadership that includes managing complex, multi-platform cloud environments in a large-scale environment.
  • A technical background of at least 5 years' experience that includes proficiency with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Skilled in using Terraform and other IaC tools to manage infrastructure deployments efficiently.

Preferred:

  • Experience with services like BigQuery, Dataproc, Composer, Dataflow, Pub Sub, Cloud Functions, Cloud Build, Cloud Run, Cloud Scheduler
  • AI & ML Platforms: Experience with traditional AI/ML platforms like Dataiku or AWS Sagemaker and Generative AI services/LLMs like Google Vertex Search, Microsoft Open AI
  • Security and Compliance: Strong understanding of security protocols, Identity & Access Management (IAM), and compliance frameworks relevant to the financial services industry.
