We are seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the development of intelligent, AI-powered workflow solutions that improve efficiency, automation, and user experience in high-throughput laboratory environments.

In this role, you’ll design and implement systems for task list generation, workflow guidance, and decision support, transforming how labs operate. Working alongside Product Managers, Designers, and Lab Stakeholders, you'll play a critical role in building intuitive interfaces and automation tools that simplify complex lab processes.


Responsibilities:

  • AI & Intelligent Workflow Optimization:
  • Build AI-powered systems for dynamic task list generation to streamline lab operations.
  • Develop workflow guidance tools to support lab personnel in navigating complex procedures.
  • Create AI-driven decision support systems for optimizing lab activities and resource allocation.
  • Leverage platforms like AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, and other ML services for intelligent automation.
  • Software Engineering & User Experience:
  • Design and develop full-stack applications that enhance lab productivity and user experience.
  • Implement intuitive front-end features including real-time task updates, prioritization logic, and contextual AI recommendations.
  • Build interactive dashboards and automation tools tailored for lab workflows.
  • Contribute to backend systems and front-end interfaces that power seamless lab operations.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure Optimization:
  • Architect scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions using AWS services:
  • Bedrock, SageMaker, Lambda, Glue, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, etc.
  • Set up CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code to support rapid AI model deployment.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, conducting root-cause analysis for workflow bottlenecks.
  • Collaboration & Process Improvement:
  • Partner with lab personnel, product teams, and engineers to define system requirements and continuously improve UX.
  • Apply human-centered design principles to build solutions that align with lab workflows and user needs.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends in AI, UX, and lab automation to drive continuous innovation.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in software development with a focus on AI, automation, and UX optimization.
  • Proficiency in Python and modern front-end frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Experience developing AI solutions and automation workflows using AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, and ML frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of task management systems, real-time guidance, and workflow automation.
  • Deep experience with AWS services such as Lambda, Glue, DynamoDB, and S3.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a user-centered mindset in software design.

Will Be a Plus:

  • Experience with custom LIMS/LES systems for lab environments.
  • Familiarity with NLP and intelligent assistant technologies.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance and security practices in healthcare or life sciences.
  • Based in or near Austin, TX, to facilitate direct collaboration with lab teams and end users.
