At Carbon, our mission goes beyond 3D printing.  We are enabling creators everywhere to make what the world needs, right now.  Our company is built on the idea that diverse fields of study must come together to solve intractable problems. We have grand ambitions to create technology that will influence industry around the world. You will be joining a diverse team with a vibrant culture, where team success is as important as celebrating individual contributions.

Help us change the world and we will help you change yours.

The primary role of a Product Manager for Software at Carbon is to drive the value of the software that powers our printers and broader manufacturing ecosystem by defining and developing new features and functionality, while also safeguarding the existing user experience. We need someone who can navigate the very large universe of things we could do and help us focus on the smaller universe of things we should do; who can create order out of chaos; and who can align stakeholders around decisions … and who can also turn around and work with a development team on the nitty-gritty. As a Product Manager for Software, you will own multiple key product initiatives and work day-to-day with software engineering teams. This position reports to the Director of Software Product Management.

You will...

  • Drive definition and decision-making around potential product initiatives; ensure that the software team is continually engaged in high-impact projects that have broad stakeholder alignment
  • Contribute to a well-defined, compelling, and valuable software product roadmap
  • Collaborate with a team of software Product Managers, working supportively and cross-functionally
  • Connect with customers; understand their needs and opportunities; champion their voice in all our work; and ensure development teams understand the customer impact of everything we do
  • Follow through on the impact of our work and help Carbon respond accordingly
  • Get into the weeds with development teams to ensure that work is defined and achievable; write and refine tickets; participate in the daily and weekly rhythms of a sprint-based work cadence
  • Interface with Product Managers on our Hardware and Materials teams, as well as our Product Owners for various business segments, to drive a unified product road map that serves customers’ needs
  • Wrangle stakeholders at all levels of the company and drive alignment
  • Communicate clearly within the organization to drive awareness and engagement with software work
  • Collaborate with marketing, education, and customer-facing teams to communicate externally about product improvements

You have...

  • 3+ years as a Product Manager, Associate Product Manager, Product Owner, Program Manager, or Business Analyst, ideally in a complex, fast-growing organization
  • Successful track record defining new features or product elements from ground zero
  • Proven experience navigating technically complex subject matter, even if you’re not an engineer yourself
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with experience communicating to a wide variety of audiences
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and nimbleness in spades
  • Nice-to-haves: existing knowledge of manufacturing; existing experience in CAD/CAM software; broad experience in both SaaS and device software

At Carbon, we look at the person holistically and carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining salary. The compensation bracket for this position is $176,000 - $264,000 per year taking into account your experience, work location, certifications, and the unique skills you bring to the role. If you are not based in our Redwood City office, the range above will be adjusted for the geographical differential associated with your actual work location.

For more information on how we modify your pay based on your location, please refer to our geographic differentials chart.

Carbon also offers to our eligible employees a comprehensive total rewards package that includes equity, benefits, and time off programs. For details on our total rewards package, visit https://www.carbon3d.com/about/life-at-carbon.
