An example of this would be performing market analysis to identify a product gap, then working with SMEs and engineering to deliver a seamless solution to our customers. The Senior Product Manager (Data Platform) will be responsible for building Apex’s data warehousing, processing, and data quality management solutions. This role will have broad exposure to technology and functions across Apex’s business and will get hands on with Apex’s products, technology, and customer experiences. This position will report to the Sr. Director of Platform Product Management and will have extensive cross-functional interaction.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a product strategy and roadmap for Apex’s data lake, warehousing, processing, and quality management in alignment with the company's overall strategy and goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, compliance, finance, and operations to ensure Apex’s products and services are able to meet external and internal customer needs.
  • Get hands on and develop specifications, plans, programs, dashboards, and activities that grow, expand, and reinforce Data Platform product solutions for applications across Apex in alignment with customer needs and firm priorities.
  • Lead development of programs that establish and maintain data processing and quality standards and SLOs.  Support the development of client-facing SLAs reliant on data.
  • Lead ongoing prioritization and monthly reporting of data warehousing, processing, and quality KPIs to Sr. leaders across Apex focused on providing excellent infrastructure-as-code developer experience.
  • Drive adoption of Apex’s data platform product solutions across Apex’s product portfolio suite.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices related to Data Lakes, Warehousing solutions and the financial services market.
  • Mentor junior product managers and similar roles across the team and organization to create a culture of coaching and collaboration.
  • Generate energy to motivate the team throughout the entire product cycle. 
  • Position requires 25% time for travel. (We’re a distributed company.)  

  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience 
  • 8+ years of experience in product management, engineering management, or related technical role 
  • 3+ years of experience in building data platform or data transformation products for financial services
  • Experience leading product development and execution for cross-functional teams with hands on experience working closely with software, analytics, and data teams
  • Experience leading productization and development of data platforms, data lakes, data infrastructure, cloud service solutions in a / for financial services firm(s)
  • Experience researching, defining and documenting market and product requirements 
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication 
  • Demonstrated full-lifecycle ownership of product development 
  • Ability to get hands on, dig into business or technical problems, and find pragmatic solutions 
  • Ability to influence multiple stakeholders without direct authority 
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data to make informed product decisions
  • Willing to be in the office a minimum of 3 days a week  

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in technical field (CS or engineering degree)
  • Master’s degree or MBA is a plus
  • Experience with FINRA or SEC books and records data reporting requirements both conceptually and practically
  • 10+ years of experience in product management, with a strong background in data warehouses, pipelining 
  • Experience in building and scaling platform systems including software licensing and provisioning, administrative self-service tools, data portability, and 3rd party data integrations 
  • Experience researching, defining and documenting competitive technical infrastructure and/or platform requirements 
  • Product Management experience building B2B SaaS solutions; Financial Services (Payments, Brokerage, Wealth Management, Trading, Clearing, Settlements, etc) industry experience is a strong plus

Salary Range

$134,400-$168,000

The annual base salary range for this position is noted above. Exact compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and office location.
