Senior Product Designer / Design EngineerSFR3 is a boutique real estate investment fund managing $2B+ of affordable single-family homes. The Fund renovates distressed homes, using software-driven operations to run many “tertiary” markets concurrently. Today we own 10,500+ homes in 20 states.

You

You love creating user experiences that directly enable your team to crack critical business challenges. You’ve shipped customer-facing and internal tools, striking the right balance between shipping fast for immediate impact and establishing a long-term vision. You enjoy working remotely, along with the independence and responsibility that comes with it.

Real estate is the world’s largest asset class, but experience in the domain is not required. What is necessary is the motivation to dive in and understand the work people do every day so you can build the right products that give them leverage. The idea of contributing to a $150M/yr business that operates like a startup—growing at 5-7%/yr and always iterating on its product experiences—is exciting to you.

What You’ll Do

Buying, renovating, and managing a portfolio of thousands of homes worth billions of dollars is a big task. Our team is continuously experimenting to improve efficiency and accelerate operations.
You’ll join a team that consists of seasoned business owners paired with product, taking complete ownership over a domain to crank out needle-moving features weekly. We’re looking for a Product Designer + Design Engineer hybrid to craft and ship end-to-end experiences for our property management operations. In this role, you won’t just envision user flows—you’ll also dive into the technical details to bring them to life. We move fast, iterate constantly, and leverage cutting-edge AI tools to keep our processes efficient and our products on the frontier of innovation.
To manage single-family rentals at our scale, we rely on a lot of software to run our operations. For this design-focused role, our users include hundreds of thousands of leads, thousands of residents, and hundreds of employees and vendors in 40+ markets, who renovate homes, repair issues for residents, and prepare vacant homes for the next move-in.

In this role, you will:

  • Design and optimize end-to-end experiences that power our property management operations. You’ll build user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes using tools like Figma—and work closely with engineers to ensure seamless implementation.
  • Collaborate on scoping and prioritizing the roadmap. We constantly iterate and evaluate new problems and opportunities to improve user workflows. You’ll regularly interact with stakeholders, ship fast, and help define our long-term product vision—making trade-offs between effort and impact to focus on the most critical work.
  • Analyze workflow efficiency and performance. We’re committed to continuous improvement and optimization. You’ll use both quantitative and qualitative data to monitor user experiences, identify opportunities, and drive business results while enhancing system reliability.
  • Develop A/B test hypotheses. Work closely with product and engineering to propose data-driven experiments for testing alternative design solutions—articulating the rationale and expected impact, then refining designs based on the insights gleaned from test results.
  • Leverage cutting-edge AI to accelerate design. Experiment with and adopt modern AI tools—like large language models, code-generation platforms, and automation frameworks—to rapidly prototype user flows, streamline workflows, and continuously innovate. This culture of experimentation and speed ensures we stay ahead of the curve and deliver high-impact products faster.

Your Stats

You’ll be working across multiple product experiences. You might be a great fit if these attributes describe you:

  • Experience designing real-world workflows end-to-end—particularly with B2B or B2C SaaS-like products that involve complex user journeys.
  • Strong expertise in modern design tools (e.g., Figma); familiarity with design systems and a willingness to learn new tools as needed. You understand how to convert polished designs into functional front-end code.
  • Strong product sensibilities to build experiences users love and that solve real problems.
  • AI-first sensibilities You embrace new AI-driven tools for rapid prototyping, user research, and process automation, and you’re comfortable integrating them into your development workflows.
  • Familiarity with mobile and web technologies (e.g., HTML/CSS, React components, SwiftUI) so you can collaborate effectively with engineers—and ideally, you can code your own designs or contribute directly to shared component libraries.
