You will join a team developing state-of-the-art general-purpose robots designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, mobilize to human spaces, and manipulate the world around it.

We are looking for a MDE (manufacturing design engineer) with experience in highly complex technical projects. The MDE function at Apptronik serves to aid the hardware design team in transitioning new designs into production. Your role is to translate new designs into mass production by evaluating optimal assembly process flows, designing & implementing assembly fixtures, and managing CM partners to establish production ready assembly lines. This role requires technical understanding of engineering design to work with designers to design & setup prototype assembly lines at our facility, as well as management experience to transfer these prototype lines to our CM partners during production transitions.

Responsibilities:

  • Self motivated & proactive, demonstrating creative and critical thinking capabilities
  • Translating complex designs into optimized assembly & test process flows
  • Design & fabrication of assembly fixtures & equipment to support prototype assembly
  • Management of vendor teams to ensure line design & setup meets program schedules
  • Approval of vendors CAPEX/OPEX/Process Documentation
  • Evaluating assembly process for cost reduction opportunities
  • Identify key risks during project execution, and drive technical team toward solutions
  • Establish RMA processes for repairing serviceable items
  • Up to 20% travel


Skills and Requirements:

  • BS in mechanical or industrial engineering (or similar)
  • 5+ years experience in MFG, Process, or similar engineering role
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals & manufacturing processes
  • Experience supporting new product launches from a manufacturing or product development perspective
  • Excellent written and oral communication in highly technical applications
  • Excellent interpersonal and team management skills
  • Detailed knowledge of product development process and life cycles
  • Excellent knowledge of business software tools (Microsoft office suite, G-Suite, Dropbox, etc.)


Nice To Have: 

  • 5+ years experience with contract manufacturing at international sites
  • 5+ years experience with high volume manufacturing
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish
