Job Description

The Senior Director, Value Added Services (VAS) Sales Training will be responsible for launching and driving a VAS-wide program focused on providing our sales teams with content, training, and tools that are needed to help them sell more effectively.

The SD will partner closely with the VAS product businesses and our regional GTM & Commercialization teams to define the appropriate learning strategy to meet our sellers needs and equip them with the knowledge and tools they need to achieve their aggressive sales targets. The scope of this role includes creating a comprehensive training strategy, training programs, and delivering knowledge resources to specifically deliver upon the sales teams’ needs.

We are in the middle of an evolution from point-to-point product selling to enabling true solution selling for both specialized and generalist sellers, and this SD will be critical to ensuring that transition happens smoothly and quickly. As such, this role requires frequent interaction with cross-functional leaders and subject matter experts, and sits at the intersection of multiple product organizations and all regions of Visa, requiring organizational savvy and strong interpersonal skills. We are also keen to evaluate opportunities for expanding our VAS learning function to cover client-facing enablement.

This role reports to the VP, VAS Commercialization & Sales Readiness and will be part of a broader team laser-focused on the seller experience and making VAS products and solutions easier for our sellers to sell.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Extensive experience building training strategies and frameworks for solution selling across multiple products and product families, in support of diverse sales teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of sales enablement technologies, processes, and best practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of sales training best practices (analysis, instructional design, delivery, implementation, and evaluation).
  • Extensive knowledge of modern sales methodologies, sales process, and buyer’s journey alignment.
  • Expert ability to manage projects from concept to completion.
  • Expert ability to plan and facilitate meetings.
  • Strong strategic, conceptual, and analytical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • High adaptability and flexibility, including the ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity, and change.
  • Strong negotiating skills within a context of political sensitivity and conflicting interests.
  • Highly-developed training, presentation and written communication skills.
  • Expert ability to consult or provide guidance on complex matters to non-specialists ability to communicate effectively with senior management.
  • Expert ability to collaborate and generate a spirit of cooperation while coordinating diverse activities and groups within a team environment.


This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 15 years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree 12 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or a minimum of 10 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA and/or 15+ years of experience required in one or more of the following areas: management consulting, product management, project/program management, process improvement / re-engineering, employee or sales training.
  • Experience in delivering sales enablement in the payments industry and/or digital/tech industries.
  • Direct experience in Sales Enablement and/or Sales Training required.
  • Past experience selling or supporting B2B solutions and/or managing B2B sales teams preferred. May accept less experience with verifiable proof of delivering business outcomes (increased velocity, increased win-rates, decreased rep ramp-up time, improving sales force performance).
  • 6+ years of people management experience successfully leading a team of individual contributors.
  • Strong analytic ability and business acumen able to quickly assess complex issues and understand implications across functions.
  • Highly competent at prioritizing and multi-tasking across a variety of programs and responsibilities.
  • Pro-active, effective communicator with strong interpersonal and written skills.
  • Proven ability to influence across functions and serve as a trusted advisor.
  • Self-starter that can work independently, at times with minimal guidance.
  • Passion for driving results with integrity and a spirit to succeed.
  • Customer-centric mindset with a history of delivering client-facing solutions at scale.
  • Collaborative working style and an ability to work with diverse skillsets and levels.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Moderate to advanced use of Microsoft Product suite (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint) required.

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires the incumbent to travel for work up to 25% of the time (domestic and/or international).

Physical Requirements:

  • This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 163,600.00 to 255,650.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
