Senior Director, Business Development (Management)

KBR is seeking a Senior Director to manage the Business Development (BD) Team for the Science & Space (S&S) BD organization focused on cabinet level Federal Civilian agencies such as DHS, DOJ, Treasury, DOS, etc. 

The Senior Director of BD will report to the Vice President of Business Development (BD) for S&S and manage the BD team focused on S&S new business federal government pursuits in the Federal Civilian account space (FedCiv). Responsibilities include developing and managing a team of senior business development executives and business development analysts focused on front-end customer engagement, pipeline development, and market shaping activities with pursuits in the pre-capture stage. The Senior Director of BD will also be individually responsible for market shaping and customer engagement activities directly in a player/coach model with personal account ownership of at least one agency.

The emphasis is on developing and winning new business in FedCiv with a thorough understanding of the focused markets, target agencies, opportunities, customers, and competition, to bring new winnable technology-based programs into the KBR S&S pipeline. The Senior Director of BD will manage roughly 5-10 direct reports and be responsible for new business strategy as well as tactics to engage with government employees, shape program opportunities, and successfully win prime program pursuits ranging from $100M-$1B. Priorities of program scope include data analytics, software development, and AI/ML based content as well as other technology-based content.

Responsibilities include overseeing all front-end BD efforts up through capture with a focus on mentoring and leading the team of BD executives. This includes ensuring individual BD team members have the requisite skills and abilities to operate across the business development cycle and partner with all functional employees to drive successful pursuits. The result is regular occurring new business prime contractor growth for S&S.

Qualifications:

  • Growth-minded individual with a minimum of 15 years’ successful experience in the federal market with demonstrated success in winning prime contracts and managing federal government business development and/or sales teams that consist of 5 or more people who have pursued individual single award prime contracts valued between $100M-$1B.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience over front end BD/Sales Teams
  • Proven ability to create and execute strategies to enter new markets and win new programs as a prime contractor.
  • The business leader will need to show proven success as an individual contributor at the job level of those that will be managed.

Additionally, requirements include:

  • Demonstrated successes reflecting the ability to grow the business with new business prime wins as an individual contributor and as a manager of a team of at least 5 customer facing senior level BD people.
  • Familiarity and experience managing the pipeline and utilizing tools such as Salesforce, and PowerBI for sales analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior business and government leaders to position and win new business.
  • Demonstrated ability and interpersonal skills to work with Executives and all functional teams involved in the BD process in a collaborative way.
  • Experience winning Federal Civilian large-scale programs over $300M in the federal government.
  • Experience developing account plans for new business opportunities, which have led to wins in new business markets.
  • Proven individual BD and/or Capture experience with demonstrated new business wins between $100M-$1B.
  • Strong skill in business writing and communication – both technical and non-technical.
  • Experience with competitive analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Business Administration, or a technical degree.

Basic Compensation:

$226,800 - $340,100

The offered rate will be based on contract affordability and the selected candidate’s working location, knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience, and in consideration of internal parity.
