Come join the Trailforks & Pinkbike team at Outside as a Senior DevOps Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for the infrastructure that backs software for some of the wildest adventures on earth and helps people explore trails with cutting-edge data and tools.
At Outside, we’re bringing our inspiring content and our empowering tools to a large audience across 30+ platforms and domains.
What you will do:
- Maintain current Data Center architecture utilizing infrastructure automation tools like Puppet & Ansible
- Architect and implement an approach to migrate the data center workload to AWS
- Support dedicated / on-prem hardware including health monitoring, upgrades, networking fundamentals, and maintenance during work hours and addressing emergencies on-call
- Provide technical guidance and support to partners such as IT, Security Engineering, and the wider engineering organization.
This describes you:
- 7+ years of experience designing & building highly available infrastructure in AWS utilizing Terraform
- 5+ years of maintaining production workloads from data centers as a systems administrator
- 5+ years working with MySQL from the command line and experience managing distributed relational databases including backing up and recovering > 1TB
- 4+ years working with UNIX/Linux operating systems
- Engaged in at least 3 past migrations with experience architecting the roadmap
- You are a strong communicator in a fully remote environment
- You’re skilled at balancing product, business, and technical priorities
- You’re always up for a challenge and ready to learn a new-to-you system
Nice to have:
- Experience developing & maintaining production PHP application
- Familiarity with other parts of our stack: Apache Solr, ElasticSearch, ZeroMQ (bonus points for experience with legacy systems)

What We Offer:
Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $140,000 to $175,000. Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, Flexible Time Away, sick leave, and more. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors
