Job Description
Staff Engineer - Product Safety responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Standard knowledge in the base standards (IEC 62368-1, 60601-1-2, and 61010), along with the collaterals.
- Able to quote as needed to support management for product safety standards.
- The Staff Engineer should be comfortable taking on new standards as the business dictates. (Proper time will be given.)
- Test products in accordance with standards and requirements. Core tests include, but are not limited to power input, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, stability, mechanical hazards, flammability, abnormal and single fault, IP testing, and others as applicable per project and compliance requirements.
- Staff Engineer will be involved in quality aspect of maintaining our accreditation by supporting the Department Manager as needed.
- Staff engineer willing to take on special assignments to ensure the department is well maintained. Proper time will be given.
- Staff Engineer will play a vital role in preparing & supporting the Department Manager for internal and external audits as needed.
- Perform preliminary design reviews (PDR) both on and off-site.
- Support sales in project communication with customers.
- a. Attend product reviews to provide technical support.
- b. Answer technical questions.
- Review technical reports test plans & test data sheets.
- Be able to manage multiple projects.
- Can make calls for technical decisions & provide engineering rationales when needed for other engineers.
- As the Staff Engineer, you are the technical expert and the team will rely on you for technical advice as needed.

Qualifications
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- Two or Four-year college degree – Engineering discipline or equivalent work experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years of product safety experience.
- Strong familiarity with IEC62368-1
- Familiar with A2LA accreditation, OSHA, and SCC
- Background in compliance, safety, quality, and/or compliance
- Ability to travel as business needs dictate up to 30%.
- Able to go locally to client sites for any testing when needed.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
