About the role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Revenue Analyst to join our dynamic team. This role will be instrumental in ensuring accurate revenue recognition, maintaining compliance with ASC 606, and providing critical financial analysis. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of revenue accounting principles, experience with contract review, audit support, and day-to-day accounting tasks. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a growing organization and gain valuable experience in a fast-paced environment. This remote position is open to candidates residing in the US or Canada, except for Alaska, Austin, California, Chicago, Connecticut, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, and Washington DC metro.

In this role, you will: 

  • Apply ASC 606 principles to analyze and interpret customer contracts, ensuring accurate revenue recognition. 
  • Assist with the resolution of audit findings and recommendations.
  • Perform revenue calculations and adjustments, including allocation of transaction prices, determination of performance obligations, and recognition of revenue over time.
  • Review customer contracts for revenue-related terms and conditions, identifying potential revenue recognition implications.
  • Collaborate with sales, legal, and other departments to ensure contract compliance and accurate revenue recognition.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly revenue reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for revenue fluctuations.
  • Prepare journal entries and other accounting documentation related to revenue.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Help implement process improvements by identifying weaknesses in the close process
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting
  • 2+ years relevant accounting experience 
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606 or IFRS.  
  • Proven experience in contract review and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and SOX requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.

Ideal candidate: 

  • CPA or interest in obtaining CPA
  • Experience working under strict deadlines and ensuring compliance with company policies
  • Must be a fast learner, multi-tasker with a strong desire to learn and a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Must be able to collaborate and communicate effectively
  • Experience with NetSuite 
  • Critical thinker, able to implement scalable processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through

The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

$58,905$79,200 USD
