Are you passionate about solving complex risk challenges? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where data-driven insights influence multi-million-dollar decisions?

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Reinsurance Treaty Catastrophe Modeler to join our dynamic and growing team. In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in shaping our Property Catastrophe (Cat) reinsurance portfolio, using cutting-edge catastrophe models to assess risk and profitability. You’ll collaborate closely with underwriters, actuaries, and management, providing critical insights that drive strategic decision-making. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced catastrophe modeler who wants to make a real impact.

Your Impact :

  • Analyze and model complex reinsurance treaties (e.g., proportional, non-proportional, retrocessional) using industry-standard catastrophe models (e.g., Verisk Touchstone/Touchstone Re, RMS Risk Link, CoreLogic).
  • Prepare, validate, and quality-assure exposure data for input into catastrophe models, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Execute catastrophe models, interpret results (e.g., exceedance probability curves, average annual loss, return periods), and identify key risk drivers.
  • Use catastrophe models to produce estimates of potential loss costs arising from various perils (e.g, tropical cyclone, severe thunderstorm, wildfire, earthquake) at various return periods.
  • Provide exposure data and help other units develop loss estimates for major events soon after they have occurred.
  • Develop and analyze scenarios to assess potential impacts of specific events or changes in exposure.
  • Participate in the validation and enhancement of catastrophe models, including model parameterization and calibration.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports summarizing model results and communicate findings to underwriters, management, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with underwriters, actuaries, and other departments to provide comprehensive risk assessments.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new modeling techniques, and emerging risks. Participate in projects to help shape and define the company's view of risk for natural catastrophe perils.

Successful Candidates Will Have:

  • 5+ years of catastrophe modeling experience in the reinsurance industry.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Proficiency in at least one major catastrophe modeling platform (Verisk, RMS, or CoreLogic).
  • Strong understanding of reinsurance structures, treaty pricing, and underwriting principles.
  • Advanced analytical skills, including experience with SQL (preferred), Python, or R for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Strong grasp of statistical modeling concepts (return periods, probability distributions, extreme value theory).

The total compensation for a position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
