About the Role

Ethos is seeking a dynamic expert to take full ownership of our regulatory product filing function. In this pivotal role, you’ll blend hands-on regulatory acumen with forward-looking product innovation to bring life insurance solutions to market efficiently and compliantly. You’ll collaborate with carriers and cross-functional teams to navigate complex state regulations, ensuring new products and policy forms are designed, filed, and approved seamlessly. Your industry relationships and deep subject-matter expertise will be essential to influence regulators, shape product designs, and accelerate approvals.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead End-to-End Filings: Own and manage the Ethos portion of the filing process for policy forms and applications, ensuring speed, compliance, and quality.
  • Inform Product Development Strategy: Collaborate with Product, Legal, Compliance, and carrier partners to refine product features and applications that balance innovation with regulatory standards.
  • Influence Regulatory Outcomes: Maintain and leverage strong relationships with state insurance regulators, positioning Ethos for proactive approvals and timely feedback.
  • Optimize Application Design: Provide expert guidance on bracketing, reflexive questions, and variability, enabling flexible yet compliant product offerings.
  • Monitor Industry Trends: Stay ahead of regulatory changes and competitor filings, translating insights into tangible strategies and recommendations for product evolution.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 10+ years in regulatory filings with strong relationships in state insurance departments.
  • Broad knowledge of life insurance products and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to shape and refine insurance applications.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills with a demonstrated track record of influencing regulatory outcomes.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with carriers, legal, and compliance teams.
  • Highly self-sufficient and entrepreneurial, capable of driving both strategic initiatives and day-to-day filings.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; JD, CPCU, FLMI, or AIRC a plus.

The US national base salary range for this full-time position is $140,000 - $180,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
