Location Details: Remote, US

At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time, others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.

This is a remote position, so you’ll be working remotely from your home. You may occasionally visit a GoDaddy office to meet with your team for events or meetings.  

This position is not eligible to be performed in Alaska, Mississippi, North Dakota, or the Virgin Islands.

GoDaddy is not currently considering candidates for this role in California, Seattle, or NYC.

What you'll get to do...

  • Serve as a key product counsel, advising on legal and regulatory considerations throughout the product lifecycle, from concept and development through launch and ongoing operations
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, marketing, compliance, and other cross-functional teams to enable product innovation while managing legal risk
  • Act as primary lawyer on certain cross-business unit initiatives, coordinating with other subject matter experts within and outside the Legal Department as needed
  • Advise on legal and regulatory risks of business decisions and strategic initiatives, and help craft pragmatic solutions that mitigate risk and support growth
  • Provide legal guidance on product designs, policies, go-to-market strategies, and customer communications to ensure alignment with legal requirements and best practices
  • Work closely with GoDaddy’s Legal Department and compliance group to maintain a current understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape, including support and maintenance of legal and regulatory obligations as they apply to the business
  • Draft, review, and negotiate product-related third-party agreements, including technology licensing, data sharing, and vendor agreements
  • Develop strategy for engaging, and navigate communications with, external collaborators, such as customers, partners, and regulators
  • Work closely with business partners and the compliance group to identify, track, and remediate compliance issues
  • Build operational mechanisms that drive measurable operational efficiencies and improve legal and business workflows
  • Provide training to business partners, senior management and relevant staff, as appropriate
  • Instruct and manage external counsel within agreed policies and budget

Your experience should include...

  • 6+ years experience as commercial counsel, product counsel, or corporate transactions counsel, including 2+ years of direct support for product teams
  • J.D. from an accredited law school with excellent academic qualifications required; law review and/or moot court team experience strongly preferred
  • Active license to practice law in any of the 50 states
