This role is within the Yahoo Mail group, which includes its flagship product, Yahoo Mail (with 200M monthly users).  You will be starting on offense; the product line (4.5+ star apps & responsive web experiences), business, and tech (modern front-end stacks with significant backend re-architecture just beginning) provide a healthy start, with lots of upsides to realize.  Now, we need you to be a key part of our next chapter -  embarking on the mission to create the best consumer-focused platform for running the “business of life,” in email and beyond.

Position Overview

Reporting to the VP of Product for Yahoo Mail, the Principal Product Manager for Ad Revenue will drive Yahoo Mail’s ad monetization strategy, leading cross-functional efforts to deliver world-class ad experiences that maximize revenue while enhancing user satisfaction. This role will require close collaboration with the centralized Yahoo Ad Monetization team, leveraging shared platforms and tools to create seamless, scalable advertising solutions.

You will be at the forefront of product innovation, owning the end-to-end lifecycle of new ad products, including native ads, display formats, and premium advertising features. Your work will influence millions of users, shaping how they experience and interact with ads in Yahoo Mail.

Responsibilities

  • Ad Revenue Strategy: Collaborate in developing the long-term strategy for ad monetization in Yahoo Mail, balancing the needs of users, advertisers, and the business. Align Yahoo Mail’s goals with the centralized Yahoo Ad Monetization team’s frameworks and initiatives.

  • Ad Product Innovation: Lead the ideation, development, and optimization of ad products, including native, display, video, and premium formats. Drive new revenue streams by introducing innovative ad experiences tailored to Yahoo Mail users.

  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with the centralized ad monetization team to leverage shared technologies and align product roadmaps. Partner with sales, design, engineering, and analytics to deliver cohesive, high-performing ad products.

  • User-Centric Design: Ensure that all ad products enhance the user experience. Develop non-intrusive, relevant, and engaging ad experiences that complement the core Yahoo Mail product.

  • Data-Driven Optimization: Use data analytics, A/B testing, and predictive modeling to optimize ad performance and improve fill rates, targeting accuracy, and click-through rates. Establish clear KPIs and regularly report on the impact of ad initiatives.

  • Tech Integration & Optimization: Oversee the integration of advertising technologies into Yahoo Mail’s platforms.

  • Global Expansion & Compliance: Develop scalable ad solutions for global markets, addressing unique user behaviors and regulatory requirements, including GDPR and other regional compliance standards.

  • Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Serve as a point of contact for ad monetization efforts within Yahoo Mail. Collaborate with leadership teams across Yahoo to ensure alignment on revenue goals and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 10+ years of product management experience, with a strong track record in digital advertising monetization for consumer-facing platforms.

  • Ad Monetization Expertise: Deep understanding of programmatic advertising, native ad technologies, video ad formats, and premium ad offerings. Experience with ad platforms like GAM and Taboola is highly desirable.

  • Strategic Vision: Proven ability to develop and execute long-term strategies that drive measurable business impact.

  • Data Proficiency: Expertise in data analysis, A/B testing, and performance optimization. Ability to translate data insights into actionable product decisions.

  • Collaboration Skills: Exceptional ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and organizations, including centralized platforms and sales teams, to achieve shared goals.

  • Technical Acumen: Familiarity with advertising technologies, SDKs, and API integrations. Able to work effectively with engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges.

  • User Focus: Strong empathy for users and a commitment to balancing user experience with revenue goals.

  • Global Perspective: Experience with international markets and ad compliance standards, particularly in regions like the EU.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas to executive leadership and cross-functional teams.

The compensation for this position ranges from $150,380.00 - $327,025.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
