Description

Sophinea, a leading technology company, is seeking a Principal AWS Architect to drive cloud adoption and IT modernization across enterprise environments. In this role, you will oversee, guide, and mentor a distributed team of developers and architects, providing strategic direction on AWS infrastructure and cloud-native solutions.

You will play a pivotal role in defining and implementing high-level architectures that facilitate enterprise IT transformation, ensuring seamless integration of essential infrastructure components. Collaborating directly with component and support teams, you will establish a clear vision for cloud adoption and cloud strategies.

As a key thought leader, you will evaluate solution-level architectures, recommend best practices for cloud and infrastructure modernization, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives. You will also conduct in-depth analyses of IT requirements and transition planning while developing architectural baselines for scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud solutions.

Additional responsibilities include formulating integration plans, migration strategies, and modernization roadmaps, as well as researching emerging technologies to optimize infrastructure costs, operations, and maintenance.

This role requires deep technical expertise in AWS, a strong background in cloud architecture and automation, and proven leadership experience in guiding teams and shaping enterprise cloud strategies.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in designing, building, and managing cloud architectures, with a strong focus on AWS.
  • Extensive expertise with core AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, IAM, ECS, EKS, and API Gateway.
  • 7+ years of deep experience with Kubernetes, including multi-cluster management, scaling strategies, and security best practices.
  • Mastery of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform and CloudFormation, with experience in large-scale automation and governance.
  • Proven track record in architecting, implementing, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines with tools like GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, ArgoCD, or Spinnaker.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Git and modern source control strategies, including branching models, code reviews, and GitOps workflows.
  • Extensive knowledge of microservices architecture, including development, deployment, service discovery, and monitoring strategies.
  • Advanced expertise in observability, including monitoring, logging, and tracing using Prometheus, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, or similar solutions.
  • Strong background in performance engineering, including analyzing system bottlenecks, optimizing cloud resources, and improving system reliability.
  • Deep understanding of container orchestration, including security hardening, network policies, and automated scaling.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of security best practices, identity and access management, encryption, disaster recovery, and failover strategies.
  • Extensive scripting and automation experience with Python, Bash, or Go, including serverless and event-driven architectures.
  • Demonstrated leadership in guiding technical teams, mentoring engineers, and driving best practices in cloud architecture and DevOps.
  • Relevant certifications preferred, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator), and Terraform Associate a plus
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a strong ability to document architectures, present solutions, and work cross-functionally.
