DIRECTV is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable strategist to join our Corporate Strategy team. Reporting to the AVP of Corporate Strategy, the Lead, Corporate Strategy is a key member of the team, playing a significant role in shaping, influencing, and driving the strategic vision for DIRECTV. In this highly visible role, you will be responsible for assessing both core and adjacent business opportunities, leading initiatives and outlining solutions that guide Executive Leadership in their decisions on the short- and long-term goals of the company. As such, the leader in this role will use their executive communication skills to effectively construct and tell the story, helping lead a team of Strategists from ideation, research, and analysis to solutioning, summary, and implementation.

The Strategy Lead is a results-oriented self-starter with a strong work ethic, independently analyzing opportunities and crafting the “so what” into a clear, actionable solution. To effectively outline the strategic vision, you will need to translate qualitative narrative into data-supported quantitative assumptions, modeling the value of initiatives into a well-reasoned business case with output that seamlessly feeds into DIRECTV’s operating plan. You will work cross functionally with peers and senior leaders to ensure organizational alignment, incorporating feedback into the final deliverable. Additionally, you stay up to date on market trends and competitive dynamics, looking for areas of value and prioritizing the most impactful initiatives for exploration.

It cannot be stressed enough: this role will directly shape the outcome of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects in partnership with team of strategy analysts and managers to assess core and adjacent business opportunities; work with cross-functional partners as an internal consultant to generate feedback and ensure alignment.
  • Solve high-impact problems and develop actionable solutions for the company’s most challenging headwinds by thinking broadly and boldly.
  • Support strategy team communication materials for Board of Director’s meetings, Strategy Committee, Executive Committee, and strategy roadshows.
  • Develop financial models to support project prioritization; prepare business cases based on internal and external financial and operational factors.
  • Perform research and data analysis to support initiatives and narrative.
  • Support peer project leads as needed.
  • Communicate solutions with Executive Leadership.
  • Monitor and review industry trends; perform competitive intelligence.
  • Collaborate with strategy and business partners to feed into short and long-term planning.
  • Ad-hoc initiatives, competitive perspectives, thought leadership, and industry reports.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, MBA from top-tier institution preferred.
  • Prior management consulting experience or corporate strategy experience preferred.
  • Problem Solver: ability to turn strategic questions with limited data into actionable solutions; must be able to evaluate at a 10k foot view but understand the nuanced detail behind drivers.
  • Executive Presence: communication skills at the executive level; ability to tell the story in a crisp, concise manner to influence an audience of all levels.
  • Skilled Visual Communicator: can paint a story through building clear and concise decks that synthesize complex information for an executive audience.
  • Financial Acumen: Must understand the P&L and financial statements; can build models with strong data-driven assumptions.
  • Highly Organized Project Manager: experienced in prioritizing and managing multiple cross-functional projects at once, supporting initiatives from start to finish.
  • Data Analysis: ability to find and analyze data, translating information into strategic recommendations to aid in decision making.
  • Strong attention to detail and passion for accuracy: projects shared directly with Exec Leaders, so ability to create a thoroughly reviewed, executive level deliverable is a must.
  • Cross-Functional Partner: cross-functional engagement with other areas of the business (Marketing, Product, Sales, HR, etc.) is a key element of this role; the candidate will need to build strong relationships to ensure problems and deliverables are prioritized.
  • Experience leading projects required.
  • Video industry experience a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Google Suite (Slides, Sheets, Docs).
  • May require a background check due to job duties requiring routine access to DIRECTV and DIRECTV customer’s proprietary data. Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction will be considered for employment in accordance with local ordinances and state law.

This is a remote position that can be located anywhere in the United States with a preference for New York City to allow for occasional team meetings within the office. #LI-Remote
