Amentum is seeking an Environmental/Chemical Hygiene specialist to support operations at the DOE National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) in Albany, OR.  This will invole working closely with federal and contract; researchers, site technicians, engineers, and other ES&H professionals.  The candidate must be energentic with good interpersonal and team building skills and be able to function independently with moderate supervisision.  The successful candidate will;

Be working in a team environment to Serve as a Chemical Inventory and SDS Manager (CISM) at the NETL - Albany site, which involves coordinating, implementing, and maintaining activities that support the sites' chemical inventory program.  Support of this program shall include the following:

Maintaining the NETL-Albany sites' chemical inventory and safety data sheets including providing support for chemical inventory questions/concerns and assisting with approval/receipt of chemical purchases per NETL directives.

Modifying/updating the NETL-Albany site’s chemical inventory and SDSs, as needed. 

Inputting all cylinder information into the chemical inventory system (EMS), assigned barcodes generated by the system.

Inspecting/scanning (annually) the laboratory areas and facilities to verify that the chemical inventory is accurate, and making corrections as needed Providing Oregon State Fire Marshal reporting support for the NETL- Albany site and other ad hoc reports as necessary.

Providing CISM support, including approving chemical purchases, review of requests for research sample shipping/receiving, and acting as CISM point-of-contact at NETL-Albany.

Providing support for the organic peroxide shelf-life tracking program.

Assist with conducting an annual cylinder inventory.  Assist with required routine inspections at the NETL-Albany site.

Support R&D, Support Operations, and Facility SARS inspections.

Supporting NETL's hazardous and non-hazardous waste program.

Minimum Requirements:

US Citizen

BS Degree in an Occupational Safety and Health or related field.

At least 0 to 3 years of position related experience

Additionally, the candidate must have good written and verbal communications skills and be proficient with Mircosoft Office Suite.
