Title:  Controller, Growth Stage  

Reports To: Pod GM, Growth Stage 

Role Overview 

  • Team Management  
    • Oversight of engagement team including US and International based personnel 
    • Delegates works to ensure and efficient and cost-effective use of resources 
    • Provides mentorship and identifies opportunities for development 
    • Manages utilization and client load across US and International based personnel 
    • Actively involved in professional development to increase technical competencies and skills for group and firm  
    • Seeks to improve quality throughout vertical to ensure a high quality deliverable  

 

  • P&L Management  
    • Optimize margins and efficiency of business unit  
    • Client pipeline  
    • Collaborate closely with Business Development, CFO team, and Customer Experience Team  
    • Integrate with Early Warning process to actively avoid escalations 

 

  • Quality Control  
    • Work with QC team to ensure a high quality deliverable to ensure client satisfaction 
    • Periodic review of client files for learning opportunities and develop best practices 

 

  • Technical Competencies  
    • Masters Degree or CPA Required.
    • 7 – 9 years of experience working with multiple clients in the start up space  
    • Able to work cross functionally within an organization to develop processes and workflows around financial reporting
    • Previous experience with Series B and Series C companies
    • Strong understanding of impact of various operational and business changes on financial reporting
    • Audit experience a plus  
    • Industry Knowledge 
      • CPG  
        • Strong understanding of inventory flow  
        • Comfortable with DTC and wholesale sales channels  
        • Understanding of ASC 606 and revenue recognition 
        • Familiar with sales tax implications/obligations 
        • Able to distinguish between COGs and Opex related items  

 

      • Tech/SaaS 
        • Comfortable with revenue waterfall and deferred revenue 
        • Understanding of ASC 606 and revenue recognition 
        • Familiar with sales tax implications/obligations 
        • Able to identify which costs can be capitalized, allocated to COGS and Opex  

  

  • Client Management & Engagement  
    • Proactively ensure a high client satisfaction 
    • Extend client lifecycle and seek upsell opportunities 
    • Develop scope and service offerings for potential Growth Stage clients  
    • Involved in client conversion cycle  
      • Scoping 
      • Pitch  
      • SOW

Salary range: $130,000 - $160,000 plus bonus, benefits and 401k match
