THE ROLE: 

FloSports is looking for a General Manager, Flo College to serve as the leader of its college focused vertical, Flo College, to drive the company’s vertical strategic direction, including  programming, financial goals, and go-to-market strategy. As the public face for the FloSports  College vertical, the GM will partner with department leaders and vertical-dedicated staff to  deliver on key objectives. The General Manager will be accountable for outlining,  communicating, and directing operational execution and strategy that will be core to the vertical  and the company's success. This leader will identify market and operational gaps and  opportunities, establish milestones to execute a multi-year vision, and possess the leadership  traits and proven success necessary to deliver results with cross-functional teams in a fast paced, growth-driven environment.  

This position is based in Austin, Texas.  

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develop and refine both the near-term tactical and long-term strategic plan for the College vertical and guide day-to-day alignment and execution of cross-functional teams  through subject matter expertise, communication, and process building. 

  • Lead the vertical programming strategy and support the acquisition of key rights and  assets. 

  • Serve as the internal- and external front-facing leader and voice of the vertical. 

  • Collaborate with internal partners to develop and drive the vertical’s product and brand  strategy. 

  • Drive alignment and consistent collaboration across all key departments and functions to  strengthen our value proposition and ensure we are centered on the customer. 

  • Manage the vertical budgeting processes and P&L, executing initiatives that drive  revenue growth, rights portfolio efficiency and contribution margin expansion. 

  • Measure and drive both short-term and long-term strategy, tracking input and output  KPIs and driving business reviews. 

  • Leverage insights from proactive competitive, market, and business intelligence and  analysis.

  • Deepen integration with all revenue-related functions, including rights acquisition,  business-to-business sales, account/partner management, ad sales, marketing, content,  and external commercial partnerships/third parties. 

  • As needed, partner with corporate development on pre- and post-M&A executions,  including functional due diligence, cultural fit, integration readiness, valuation, financial  impact, and long-term integration. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

  • A seasoned leader with subject matter expertise of the college/NCAA sports ecosystem  and the ability to build and navigate a network of influencers and decision-makers. 

  • 7+ years of experience in (or combination of) university sports or college  conference/league administration, strategy, consulting, sport management, business  development, rights acquisition, sales management/leadership, general manager type  role, or other related experience that proves strong business acumen and cross functional execution.  

  • Strong presentation skills in communicating both qualitative and quantitative analyses

  • Proven record of creating value, improving profitability, and determining competitive  advantage for other organizations.

  • Excellent communication skills – public, written and verbal – successfully articulating  everything from high-level strategy to tactical execution plans.

  • Ability to lead through decisive leadership, prioritization and strategic decision making.

  • Possess strong understanding of audience needs and behaviors, ensuring the content,  programming and experiences provided meet customer and partner expectations.

  • Experience in public forums, including on-camera and on social media, is a plus.

BONUS POINTS:  

  • Familiarity with financial analyses and business valuation 

  • Experience partnering with product and engineering teams to build customer-centric  experiences 

  • Experience in sports media, especially video streaming and OTT
