Human Exploration and Spaceflight (HESF)Division in CSG is the company subject matter experts for human spaceflight. HESF supports NASA and its bold human exploration missions from the NASA Headquarters mission directorates to the Moon to Mars office down to every Artemis Program in operation. We also support the International Space Station (ISS), Commercial LEO Development Program, Commercial Crew Program, and Human Health and Performance. HESF support spans the systems engineering and integration life cycle from architecture and mission design to technology development, requirements and design reviews; and finally to verification, safety, and on orbit operational reviews and concurrences.
The Gateway Laboratories Project Manager (Project Engineer/ Sr Project Engineer- Technical Project Management) will focus on the oversight, development, modification, and integration of NASA owned and operated system integration laboratories to support the Gateway Program. The laboratories in the Gateway Laboratory Project Manager's portfolio include both Artemis Network Validation and Integration Lab (ANVIL) and Gateway Ready Avionics Integration Laboratory (GRAIL). They will be used by NASA teams and contractors for the test, verification, validation, and certification of Gateway components, subsystems, and systems, contributing directly to decisions impacting flight readiness, the certification of flight hardware and software, and the operation of Gateway. This position is 100% onsite and will report to the Avionic Systems Division's System Engineering and Integration Branch located at Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, Texas.
Work Model
This is a full-time position based at Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX, offering a 100% onsite work model.
What You'll Be Doing
The primary duties of this role include serving as the project manager responsible for leading the design, development, and operation of JSC's avionics laboratories in support of the Gateway Program
Leads teams responsible for:• Designing and developing the laboratory infrastructure and capabilities required to support Gateway test, verification, validation, and certification activities.• Designing and developing integration, test, and certification plans and procedures in support of Gateway test, verification, validation, and certification.• Test, verification, validation, and certification plan and procedure execution.• Managing laboratory operations.
Collaborates with:• ANVIL and GRAIL project managers and leads to ensure Gateway test, verification, and certification activities are fully successful.• Gateway System Managers to communicate test program status, test like you fly exceptions, and risk• All branches in the Avionic Systems Division and the Gateway Program Office.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for Project Engineer- Technical Project Management• Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in electrical engineering, software engineering, or related discipline• 6 or more years of experience in flight hardware avionics, communication, telemetry design including software and hardware development• Familiar with the Gateway overall avionics or communication architecture• Experience working across multiple teams and many different engineering disciplines.• Strong project management skills and exceptivonal interpersonal skills• Ability to work within a team environment, where the team is distributed across multiple NASA and Aerospace Corporation organizations, projects and programs.• Ability to identify and communicate concerns to leadership in a diplomatic manner• Superior analytical, planning, problem solving, and decision-making skills.• Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent tasks and provide direction on competing priorities.• Advanced experience with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.• Willing to travel [domestically and internationally] approx. 2 times per year• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the Senior Project Engineer- Technical Project Management include:• 10 or more years of experience in flight hardware avionics, communication, telemetry design including software and hardware development• Experience in or an understanding of the design and utilization of software in the loop (SIL) and hardware in the loop (HIL) labs.
