Tecovas is looking for a Footwear Product Developer to manage all new Seasonal Footwear Development from Brief Handoff to Line Close. Reporting directly to the Director of Footwear and Commercialization, you will oversee the entire footwear development process, ensuring designs are executed to meet quality, cost, and timeline goals while collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing factory relationships.

This role is required to be based in Austin, TX. Candidates must either be currently located in or willing to relocate to Austin, TX.

What you’ll do:

  • Work within our Footwear Milestone Process to deliver all Prototypes through the various stages, Starting at Design Handoff and ending at Line Close.
  • Partner with our Tecovas Merchants and Designers to assure the Product is being developed and delivered correctly on time and at margin target.
  • Partner with our Commercialization Team to confirm all Prototypes are Fit approved at Line Close, in turn, handing off confirmed Development projects, to be Commercialized. 
  • Communicate with the Materials, Sourcing, and Commercialization team members to assure all materials meet the Tecovas “Functional” guidelines.
  • Create timely and accurate seasonal Tech Packs/Specs in the PLM system.
  • Manage the weekly Line List, communicating the status of projects Cross Category: Merchandising, Design, Development, Commercialization, and Supply Chain. 
  • Working with the Materials Manager assuring the Materials List is up to date, and proactively communicating the status of materials Cross Category: Merchandising, Design, Development, Commercialization, and Supply Chain. 
  • Visit factories to manage the development of the products through various phases. 

Experience we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years of Development/Footwear Making/Crafting Experience, with footwear constructions like, but not limited to: Goodyear Welt, Cement, Direct Attach, Stitch down, ASTM Safety/Non-Safety products.
  • 2+ years of experience fitting and approving products at Line Close, specifically “True Fit” Slip on Products.
  • Proven experience in Footwear Costing, Lab Testing and Field Testing 
  • Experience in Footwear Construction, Fit, Calendar Management, Materials, and Tech Pack creation.
  • Experience in a PLM system is a plus
