Horace Mann is a purpose-driven company that is passionate about educators.The Investment Financial Analyst II plays a critical role in conducting financial research, preparing exhibits for the 10K, Investment Committee and other internal an external parties. This position is responsible for statistical analysis, financial reporting that helps to drive informed decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience with financial software, and the ability to manage multiple reporting responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Conduct economic and financial research to assess Investment trends and conditions.
  • Prepare the Investment exhibits for the 10K, Financial notes, Investment Committee, Investment front office and others.
  • Prepare the Investment portions of the STAT MD&A and STAT audited files.
  • Analyze, interpret and make recommendations of securities for impairment. 
  • Establish monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results to support senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and company policies.
  • Manage the expectation of both internal and external parties as it relates to deliverables and deadlines.

Process Improvement & Business Support

  • Identify opportunities to enhance financial systems and reporting methods.
  • Streamline processes by leveraging automation.
  • Collaborate with senior management and functional teams to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy.
  • Ensure data management integrity and control considerations are maintained in financial reporting tools.
  • Use thoughtful judgement with appropriate pushback for reporting redundancies and consolidation.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, data manipulation, process improvements through technology.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Ability to manipulate and rationalize large datasets.
    • Knowledge of financial modeling.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge.
    • Ability to interpret and apply financial and analytical techniques effectively.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Highly organized
    • Team player
    • Can do attitude

 

 Pay Range:

  • $61,900.00 - $91,300.00  

Salary is commensurate to experience, location, etc.
