Job Description:
Performance of quality assurance functions for a geographic mapping software application for sensor data, including sonar, optical, and other data. This function includes selection and implementation of a software test framework, as well as detailed testing and design reviews of other engineers’ work with the intent to enhance and improve designs and implementations. The software application is developed for Linux and is written mostly in C++. Software quality assurance functions will include, but are not limited to, managing a QA team, developing a QA strategy for the product, executing the QA strategy, and responding to and overseeing end-user software issue resolution.
The software QA strategy is expected to be a combination of automated software and manual testing guided by test planning and code coverage metrics, as well as coordination with software development team on test development and test-driven design. The QA lead will setup the software testing infrastructure and pattern to be used across the project. The QA lead will also interface with personnel outside of the organization in a training, support and documentation role. The employee must be a motivated, self-starter who understands software testing, and is looking to take responsibility for and lead a software QA team in the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL).

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical/computer engineering or computer science.

Three years of demonstrated experience in software QA.

Demonstrated ability to program in C++.

Thorough understanding of software testing methodologies and techniques.

Possess working-level understanding of Linux operating systems and administration.

Ability to provide technical and managerial leadership for a small team of software QA associates.

Ability to document and present software testing results, quality metrics and make recommendations for continued testing process improvement.

Ability to build good working relationships with people at all levels, and understand the needs of different stakeholders and communicate with them appropriately.
Applicant must have a dynamic skill set, willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized and capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks and managing their time. The position will require attention to detail, effective problem solving skills and excellent judgment. Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with diverse groups of clients. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision. Regular and punctual attendance.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in software engineering.

Five or more years of experience in software testing and quality assurance.

Experience leading a QA team and setting a QA strategy.

Experience with high-frequency SONAR or other underwater sensor data analysis.

Experience with functional management.

Experience with open-source build tools and procedures in the Linux environment.

Salary Range
$92,000-$140,000+/negotiable depending on qualifications.
