Thoughtful is looking for sharp, motivated Full-Stack developers to join our well-funded, early startup team. This team is building a sophisticated B2B platform for managing their digital workforce (cloud bots). We're using AWS Lambda as our execution environment, with Lambda currently written in Node.js. We move quickly, make decisions quickly, and strive to consistently deliver high value to a new category of customer.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy and maintain features for our customer-facing web application in an AWS lambda stack. Our current tools include Serverless Framework, Node.js, and Next.js.
- Work with an agile team to deliver frequent iterations, including both individual and collaborative work.
- Ability to design, document, and build efficient data models with complex relationships.
- Perform and participate in PR reviews, technical discussions, and requirement elaboration activities.
- Devops in a CD/CI environment. Each developer is also the release manager for their code.
- Pair, share, and mentor with other developers on team, and other stakeholders on other teams.
- Occasional production support on rotation.
- Participate in recruiting and hiring activities.
- Contribute work on UI, API, and DB tiers. It is not necessary to be an expert on all tiers.
- Contribute high-quality work while being adaptive to frequent change.
Skills and Experience
- Deep expertise in building web products with one of the major application languages (Node, Ruby on Rails, Typescript, Python), Postgres, and React.
- Currently proficient or having an active interest in cloud-based development.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- 5+ years of experience working in a full-stack or API engineering role.
- Experience in technical leadership of an engineering team is a bonus.
- Strong foundation in programming, algorithms, and software application design
- Passion for solving challenging problems and iterating quickly
- Previous start-up experience is a definite plus!
