About the Team

The Core Data team is responsible for the governance, publishing, consumption, indexing, cataloging, and storage of data schemas and metadata across services, APIs, and organizations. We build and maintain the foundational services that power the entire lifecycle of data at HashiCorp. These critical systems form the Data Fabric domain, used across all of HashiCorp’s products and platform teams.

We’re a group of Software Engineers and Product Managers solving challenging data problems at scale. We work with distributed systems and collaborate across teams to ensure our platform and products are reliable, performant, and extensible.

We’re looking for a junior Frontend Software Engineer to join the Core Data team!

What you’ll do  (responsibilities)

You’ll focus on building user-facing interfaces and experiences that help teams across HashiCorp understand, manage, and interact with our internal data platform. You’ll collaborate with product and design to translate complex backend data concepts into intuitive, performant interfaces.

This role carries a strong front-end focus. You will work on large customer-facing projects and interact regularly with collaborators on other teams to deliver multi-team engineering efforts. This is an opportunity to have an impact improving the industry as a whole.

This is a great opportunity to work at the intersection of frontend development and data infrastructure, driving impactful product experiences in a fast-moving and deeply technical space.

  • Build, prototype, and ship high-quality frontend features using modern web technologies
  • Collaborate with Design and Product teams to shape the user experience of data-oriented tools
  • Act as a subject matter expert on frontend development practices including accessibility, responsiveness, testing, and performance
  • Create data-rich, dynamic UIs that communicate complex backend systems with clarity
  • Participate in collaborative team practices like code reviews, pair programming, and design discussions
  • Interface with backend engineers to define APIs and data models that support frontend requirements
  • Contribute to cross-team engineering efforts and help evolve shared patterns and components

What you’ll need (basic qualifications)

  • Professional experience as a frontend engineer working in production environments
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks like Ember.js, React, Angular, or Vue (we use modern Ember.js)
  • Have familiarity or interest in data platforms and infrastructure-oriented tooling
  • Are comfortable working in a distributed, remote-first team
  • Enjoy turning complex systems into accessible and intuitive user interfaces
  • Care about code quality and maintainability, with a focus on testing and user experience
  • Value collaboration, feedback, and continuous learning
  • Are excited by working on mission-critical systems that power multiple products

What's nice to have (preferred qualifications)

  • Technical Writing
  • Presentation skills
  • Independent Research

Technologies We Use

  • Frontend: Modern Ember.js, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, testing frameworks (e.g., QUnit, Jest)
  • Backend (collaborative stack): Go, Pub/Sub systems (Google Pub/Sub, AWS SQS), GraphQL/REST APIs
  • Tooling: Datadog (observability), CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions
  • Platform Integration: Terraform, Vault, HCP, and internal data catalogs
