Join Backcountry's dynamic team as the Marketplace Manager, where you'll spearhead strategic partnerships and elevate our marketplace presence. This is an exciting opportunity to drive growth, expand into new platforms, and connect outdoor enthusiasts with our extensive product offerings.


This role is challenging – above and beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, you’ll have a big role within a fast-paced team.  


This position will report into the Sr. Director Performance Marketing.

What you get to do every day:

  • Provide strategic leadership in developing and executing a comprehensive marketplace strategy, prioritizing profitability and alignment with overall company objectives.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key online marketplaces and feed management partners, ensuring optimal visibility and positioning of our products.
  • Drive the onboarding and integration of new marketplaces, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless launches.
  • Partner with marketing teams to create marketplace-specific campaigns and promotional strategies to drive sales and visibility.
  • Monitor marketplace trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to inform strategy and drive continuous improvement.
  • Analyze marketplace performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for optimization.
  • Manage relationships with external marketplace partners, negotiating terms and agreements to maximize mutual benefit.
  • Ensure compliance with marketplace regulations, policies, and best practices.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on the status of marketplace initiatives to leadership.

What you bring to the role:

  • Proven experience managing e-commerce marketplaces with deep Amazon expertise, including listing optimization, meeting SLAs, and policy adherence.
  • Experience using feed management tools like Rithum or similar platforms to drive operational efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Familiarity with onboarding new marketplaces, including platform integrations and technical requirements (e.g., Walmart, Target).
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities with a focus on aligning marketplace efforts to profitability targets.
  •  Exceptional communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
  • Passion for the outdoor industry and a strong connection with the target audience.
  • A keen interest in staying updated on emerging marketplace trends and exploring new platform opportunities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, E-Commerce, or a related field preferred.
