About the Position

Dotdash Meredith is seeking an experienced Finance Director to lead and oversee financial activities within our organization. The Finance Director will play a pivotal role in driving the company's financial strategy, ensuring the effective management of financial resources, and providing leadership in financial decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, strategic planning, and business acumen, as well as a deep understanding of accounting principles and regulatory requirements.

In-office Expectations: This position is hybrid in-office (Des Moines, IA), with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to ensure the long-term financial success of our newsstand businesses.
  • Provide financial leadership and direction to the organization, ensuring financial objectives align with business goals.
  • Advise senior management and executives on financial implications of strategic initiatives and business decisions.
  • Lead the preparation of financial forecasts, budgets, and long-term financial plans for our newsstand businesses.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze financial data and performance metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Compliance & Financial Control

  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor and enforce financial controls to safeguard assets and ensure proper accounting procedures.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor the newsstand finance team, ensuring a high level of performance and professional growth.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment while encouraging continuous improvement.

The Role’s Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and make strategic decisions under pressure.
