Our Company

Onshape (www.onshape.com), a PTC SaaS business, developed an engineering development platform that unites Computer Aided Design (CAD) with powerful data management and collaboration tools on the cloud. The Opportunity

The Enterprise and Platform teams support our largest clients by providing scalable, reliable infrastructure and solutions for engineering teams working on complex CAD, PDM workflows.

As a Director, you'll be a technical leader and people manager, responsible for guiding the team to technical decisions for production services, helping prioritize and organize the team's work. You will manage a group of 5-10 engineers on a Backend Software Engineering Team and work closely with your design and product management counterparts to build user journeys that unleash the potential of our future customers.

Key Strengths Required

Strong technical acumen and ability to act as a credible technical advisor to the team and review the team's code.

● Effective communicator on technical topics within the team and across teams.

● Ability to integrate technical and customer/business needs and priorities.
● Experience with one or more of the leading cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

● Proven track record in building and operating platforms with an emphasis on developer experience.

What You Need To Succeed
●10-15 years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or related fields, with deep expertise in designing and building distributed data intensive systems.

Proficiency in Java programming language backed by solid computer science fundamentals, algorithms, and data structures.
Extensive experience developing core backend infrastructure systems and services using Java, Spring and MongoDB.
● Extensive experience in building and scaling cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) for data platforms, with a strong focus on high availability, fault tolerance, and cost-efficiency.
● Strong understanding of networking, security, and operational best practices.
● Experience building and supporting large enterprise customers with complex security, delegation, and collaboration needs.

● Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.

● Providing guidance and technical support for junior engineers, helping them to develop technical skills through code reviews, one-on-one meetings and training sessions.

● Ability to lead design and implementation of complex software systems, ensuring high quality code and adherence to best practices.

● BS in Computer Science or equivalent software development experience.

PTC carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, which may include the background and experience of all applicants, which can cause your compensation to vary. PTC anticipates the salary range for this position to be between 190,000-210,000.  The actual pay may be lower or higher depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary bonuses. Also, every PTC employee also has the opportunity to become a PTC shareholder, both through its stock grant programs or its employee share purchase program which allows employees to purchase PTC stock at a discount.
