About the role:


C for “Customer Champions” is our first value for a reason. Our Customer Marketing function is dedicated to creating programs that engage our customers throughout their lifecycle, influencing adoption, retention, and expansion, as well as turning them into our best advocates. The Customer Marketing Manager role will report to our Director, Customer Marketing, and work closely to grow our existing programs to drive even more impact. This role will focus on customer advocacy activities, including creating customer content (case studies, video testimonials, etc), launching and managing our customer reference program, and driving online reviews, as well as customer communications, including creating and maintaining customer lifecycle campaigns. This role will require someone agile, who thrives in context switching and is excited by creating and owning programs. There will also be a customer-facing component to this role, so this individual must have strong communication skills (both written and verbal).

What you'll do:

  • Drive and expand our global customer content program, including the creation of case studies, video testimonials, customer webinars, and more.
  • Maintain customer proof points database, including regular updates and communication to sales and CX teams.
  • Assist in managing customer engagement and communication programs, including ongoing nurture campaigns, newsletters, and in-person/virtual events.
  • Launch and manage customer reference program, including success metrics around new business influence.
  • Maintain vendor relationships with customer review platforms and drive engagement to position Kong as the leading provider in our space.
  • Assist with customer-focused events, such as API Summit (our flagship event), customer roundtables, Customer Advisory Board meetings, etc.
  • Other customer marketing and advocacy activities as needed
  • And any additional tasks required by manager

Who you are:

  • 5+ years of marketing experience with 1-3 years of customer marketing experience (for a tech company or similar industry)
  • Have the desire and ability to learn a technical product and in 3-6 months be able to discuss with industry professionals
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to write compelling copy and communicate with executives
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and come up with creative solutions to challenges
  • Experience with GTM platforms such as Marketo, Salesforce, Tableau, and Confluence
  • Have the ability to travel 2-5 times per year (potentially international)

Kong has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to specific candidate location, role, skill set and level of experience. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards including sales incentives depending on the terms of the applicable plan and role. Benefits may vary depending on location. US based employees are typically offered access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short and long term disability benefits, basic life and AD&D insurance, among others. The typical base pay range for this role in the US is $90,000-110,000.
