YOUR ROLE
We are looking for an experienced Commercial Insurance Sales Representative with a strong background in Excess & Surplus (E&S) lines and a passion for leveraging digital tools to streamline the quoting and binding process. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and managing a book of business, focusing on hard-to-place risks while utilizing digital platforms and insurtech solutions to enhance efficiency and customer experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Sales & Business Development

  • Prospect and generate new business opportunities, targeting small businesses with E&S insurance needs.
  • Educate small business owners on risk exposure and recommend appropriate coverage solutions.
  • Leverage digital tools and insurtech platforms to streamline the quoting, binding, and policy issuance process.
  • Build strong relationships with wholesalers, MGAs, and E&S carriers to place hard-to-insure risks.
  • Meet or exceed sales targets while maintaining a high standard of customer service.


Account Management & Client Service

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients post-sale, handling endorsements, renewals, and coverage changes.
  • Proactively address client inquiries, policy updates, and claims assistance.
  • Conduct annual policy reviews and recommend coverage adjustments based on business growth or changing risks.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and carrier requirements while maintaining accurate records.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience: 3+ years in commercial insurance sales, with a focus on E&S business.
  • Digital Expertise: Familiarity with digital platforms for E&S quoting and binding.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of underwriting guidelines, risk assessments, and carrier appetites for E&S placements.
  • Sales & Communication Skills: Proven ability to prospect, negotiate, and close deals while building long-term client relationships.
  • Licensing: Active P&C license (additional surplus lines license preferred or willingness to obtain).


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods of time, (up to 8 hours per day) at a desk working on a computer.
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment for extended periods of time, including but not limited to, a mouse, keyboard, phone and video conferencing.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to access and navigate the corporate office.

The expected starting salary range for this role at Bold Penguin is $55,000 to $73,000. This is a commission-eligible position. This position offers a competitive salary range that may vary based on experience and qualifications.
