We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Account Executive to promote and sell our cutting-edge pharmaceutical devices to academic institutions, including universities, contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMO) research laboratories, teaching hospitals and small to medium biopharma companies. This role focuses on building relationships with researchers, operators, and procurement teams to support their scientific, research, development, and manufacturing technology needs.

The ideal candidate is passionate about science, has a deep understanding of the academic landscape, understands the intersection of academia, grant funding and biopharma manufacturing and thrives in a consultative sales environment.  You must have a start-up mentality as well as understand and are passionate about establishing first to market technology solutions with the ambiguity that comes it.

This position reports to the SVP, Strategic Alliances.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Manage Sales Team: Hire and motivate a team of biomanufacturing sales representatives to achieve or exceed sales targets.
  • Sales Strategy Development: Develop and implement strategic sales plans to expand the customer base and increase the market share of products.
  • Target and Engage Clients: Identify and develop relationships with key decision-makers and end-users in academia and small to medium size biopharma.
  • Product Promotion and Sales: Demonstrate the benefits and applications of our pharmaceutical devices, tailoring presentations to address the unique needs of users.  Skilled at overcoming objections to new technology and having impeccable sales methodology that focuses on solution and value-based selling.  Evidence of building partner-client relationships.
  • Customer Support: Act as a trusted advisor by providing guidance on device functionality, applications, and technical support.  Proven track record of establishing long term client relationships.
  • Market Research and Strategy: Stay informed about biomanufacturing research trends and funding opportunities to identify new sales opportunities in an emerging market.
  • Relationship Management: Build and nurture long-term partnerships with academic institutions, CDMOs, teaching hospitals and biopharma companies ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Sales Reporting: Track and report on sales activities, opportunities, and pipeline progress using CRM tools.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, product development, and technical teams to ensure alignment with academic client needs.

Who You Are:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., life sciences, biomedical engineering, business). An MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in pharmaceutical, medical device or academic sector sales, with at least 2 years in a leadership or team management role.
    • Experience working with or selling to academic institutions is highly preferred.
    • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a highly competitive market.
    • Strong understanding of the academic sector, regulatory requirements, and product lifecycle management.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
    • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex scientific concepts.
    • Proven ability to establish rapport and credibility with academic, research and biopharma professionals.
    • Self-motivated, with excellent time management and organizational skills.
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and market trends.
    • Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk.
  • The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move materials or equipment up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent use of hands to manipulate, handle or touch objects, tools or controls.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

This position will be remote, with the expectation of up to 75% travel.
