This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of [Warren, MI, Austin, TX, or Mountain View, CA facilities], you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum.

The Audience and Data Governance Manager performs a key role in maintaining GM's position as a global leader in the media and marketing landscape. The selected candidate will lead the continued evolution of GM's audience-based media approach to ensure we leverage paid media to build consideration and intent amongst current and future new vehicle buyers. This person will work closely with internal data, martech, and analytics teams to ensure the right foundational capabilities are in place to make this happen. The right candidate will work across multiple internal and external teams to implement new and emerging targeted, addressable capabilities. The selected candidate for this role will also work closely with key media vendors, as well as industry trade groups and associations like the ANA and WFA, to drive the future evolution of addressability and targeting for all advertisers.
A successful candidate will have strong communication skills, a data-driven approach to developing media and audience strategies, a firm understanding of media, data, and tech ecosystems, and an ability to provide concise feedback and organized direction to a diverse set of internal stakeholders and external agency and vendor partners.
Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day lead for GM's audience-based media approach
  • Work very closely with internal martech platform and analytics teams to continually enhance GM's people-based marketing activation and measurement capabilities
  • Develop requirements for media-data led initiatives, working closely with internal partners to ensure development of audiences matches requirements
  • Ensure audience solutions are scalable across national, regional, and local activations
  • Working with brand media teams, develop requirements for core set of audiences for use across media activations
  • Work closely with media activation teams to identify growth opportunities for use of addressable audiences in media
  • Work closely with data and measurement teams ensure audience measurement aligns to broader corporate measurement initiatives
  • Collaborate with advertising organizations (ANA, WFA) in addressability and data workstreams to ensure GM's voice is represented in the industry

Skills and Abilities

  • Proven experience leading large, complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively lead and influence a team comprised of both direct and indirect reports
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, including written and oral communications - demonstrated ability to distill large sets of complex data and information down to the most crucial elements
  • 5+ years of experience in digital paid media; agency and/or automotive experience preferred
  • Experience with identity management providers (ie. Epsilon, Merkle) preferred
  • Ability to manage complex initiatives requiring the input of multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to listen to and understand the needs of internal/external stakeholders and in turn develop thoughtful solutions
  • People management experience preferred
  • Desire to remain current in the media space through ongoing education and skill development
  • Strong presentation skills, including written and oral communications
  • Excellent time management skills - the ability to effectively and efficiently use your time to focus on the most impactful activities and challenge those that distract from the identified goal
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining graceful under pressure
  • Proactive self-starter who can work well both independently and as part of a team


Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.

  • The salary range for this role is ($116,100-$181,600). The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
