We’re seeking an associate contracts counsel to join our legal team to manage the legal aspect of Vendor contracts across the organization. The ideal candidate will have prior consumer lending experience and be well versed in negotiating contracts & managing multiple vendors. 


Responsibilities: 

  • Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts, including SaaS agreements, vendor agreements, DPAs, NDAs, licensing arrangements, and service agreements and deliver legal direction and counsel to staff.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks, ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state consumer protection laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Advise on contract status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with different transactions.
  • Build close relationships with business partners across the Company, including members of the product, engineering, sales, risk, operations, finance and people teams and advise on a wide range of corporate vendor relationships to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist, collaborate, and lead as directed on Legal-related matters, company initiatives, and other responsibilities as directed.
  • Legal point of contact for the company's vendor contract needs.

Requirements: 

  • Member of a US State Bar.
  • J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • 5+ years of experience practicing corporate law at a law firm or financial services business.
  • Excellent negotiation, consultation, and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of 3rd party risk assessments and applying a vendor management program.
  • Ability to proactively manage a diverse and complex workload, while maintaining priorities and driving towards successful outcomes.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with an ability to translate complex legal issues into concise and practical guidance to laymen across the company.
  • Excellent strategic business insight and personal integrity.
  • Detail-oriented, enthusiastic, resourceful, diligent, and comfortable acting in the face of ambiguity.
  • Advanced skills with the Google Suite, MS Office, DocuSign and other online platforms.
  • Demonstrating effective project and time management skills.
  • Operate autonomously.

Preferred Skills: 

  • Knowledge of relevant consumer lending, consumer protection, cybersecurity, privacy and security regulations (Including but not limited to: TILA, FCRA, FDCPA, AML/BSA, OFAC sanctions and UDAAP).
  • 2+ years of experience in consumer finance law and regulation.
  • Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives and provide pragmatic, solution oriented advice.
  • Experience with contract lifecycle management tools is preferred.

Compensation: The role described above offers a base salary of $103,000 to $140,000.  Your offer will be based on the alignment of your qualifications with the requirements of the job, location, and internal equity.  In addition to the above-mentioned salary, Total Rewards include a stock option package, and benefits as outlined below.
